I don’t think you should feel guilty for thinking this way. Not only do we grow up having society and people around us enforce the gender binary, but especially now there’s also plenty of media and politics specifically telling us that going outside of the binary is wrong. It's really not strange. Do you normally decide to have a crush on someone??? The impossibility of reciprocation is not a turn off for everyone. Like you could have a crush on a celebrity, but the fact that you could literally never be together doesn't stop you.
