I dont think everything would be fixed if she just went to her father and was like "i dont want the throne, he can have it, he deserves it" b/c the brother resents her so much. He could still try to kill her later with the way he feels about her just to secure his position, just like he did in the book. In fact, her surrendering the throne without improving her relationship with him would almost guarantee that. She'd have no political power, and probably wouldnt be allowed to do some of the things she is now (like attend the meetings, or request to meet that queen with her brother).
Plus, I feel like if she approached her brother now and told him she didn't want power (without having proved it) he'd make some convoluted thing in his head where she was "lulling him into a false sense of security" and then make plans to kill her later OR he'd think she was insulting him by insinuating that she even had the right to the throne in the first place, which would make him resent her more and he'd still kill her later for good measure. He seems like the type.
I would love it if she could just declare she didnt want power and be done with it, but its not that simple.

So, after watching 2 eps, i've decided some things just shouldnt be translated to the screen direct from text. For one, the dialogue—its not bad reading it, but hearing it spoken aloud??? The embarrassment I felt just couldnt be understated. Idk if they cant act, or if they're stuggling to work with bad dialogue, but either way its so, so bad.
For two, this would have been so much better if it was a thai drama b/c what the hell were those sex scenes? If they're gonna adapt a smut manga and decide to keep "spicy" scenes, they need to commit. They barely committed to the kisses, and didnt bother for the "sex". They were so still, they didnt move an inch. One scene she was like "you're being so intense " and buddy didnt move an inch. Thai dramas commit without showing a thing, and it actually is "intense". So, im sure there will be a thai remake in a few years and i look forward to that.
And THREE, its kinda a whole different story? Maybe the manga has to introduce us to more characters, or maybe they wrote their own story based off the ideas of the manga but after eo 2 its clear the story deviates from the manga a bit (which they should have done when writing the dialogue, but i digress).

It does. I had the same reaction as well when I first discovered it. However, after completing all episodes, I can very much say that its like some wattpad story. Full of cringe moments and very much just bad dialogue, fast paced rearranged plot, and just...wattpad vibes ( ̄∇ ̄"). BUT Oya's actor is handsome (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

Why are people complaining about this again? From the beginning, it was clear Lucien was the ML. From the cover, to the little summary, to the promo chapter—he's always been the ML, you could always see that. You deciding to read it and then come to the comments with your moral grandstanding is weird. You dont meed to write paragraphs about how you dont get how we're reading this, we're sick, etc—its just a story. In fact, its not the only one in this particular genre and im willing to bet you've accepted worse in a yaoi or BL. Shut up. You want attention that bad? Dnf it and go. Just because you're complaining, the plot wont suddenly change. What's your goal here? To make people feel bad for reading it? And then what? Hm? You're being ridiculous.
Also, about her misunderstandings. In the book, it was pretty clear the only person he'd ever love was blondie. As the title says, he was obsessive, so why would she think that she vould change the plot? At this point, she doesnt think of him as a love interest. The most she thinks she can change is how he reacts based on his love. Also, girlie thinks he's gay and cant just outright ask. If I think someone is gay, and I start being friends with them and being kind to them, i wouldn’t just think they're interested in me.
There are plenty of justified things to complain about like the pacing, or the fact that she has such a good relationship with the duke though she knows he's abusive, etc. But these two things are weird to just harp on and on about.

I feel like the author is confused. I feel like its almost to an ending, with no progress between the "couple" besides realizing they like each other (for no reason, honestly, has to be sex). Then, the authors is focusing so much on the blonde friend and their relationship and that drama that I find myself thinking, "well, why not just make him the main love interest for all of that?". They came up with an ambitious story, and got lost in the middle of trying to make a fresh plot.

it ends in 2 chapters... im pretty sure the author took a lot of breaks and realized they literally had no way to fix it. and apparently there won’t be side chapters so honestly it’s just gonna be a mess. that’s what happens when you make 90% of the story just about the mc getting raped and developing no plot line
I think i'm gonna really like the ML, and so will she when she sees through his tsundere act, i cant wait
