People are critiqing it for fun, in the same way people complain in comment sections about movies when the director isn't going to read it. The point of the negative review isn't to change how the mangaka writes it, but to create discussion on that topic (in this case character design). I don't think you believed your comment would stop people from writing negative comments, you just wanted to express your opinion.
