I think the reason the rape in this bothered people more than others is because it was depicted so realistically. It was sad and gross and Asaichi hated it and was terrified.
I've also seen people mention that it was unnecessary to the story but I would disagree, that was the turning point of his personality. He realized then that he was treating Yoru the same as he was just treated and that it was terrible. And then he is saved by Yoru and i think he confronts his feelings more after that. I just wish the rapists wouldn't have casually shown up here and there through chapters as if they didn't just do something that horrendous. But anyway, enough rambling, I LOVE this manga and I'm so happy it got a sequel! The way Asaichi looks at Yoru warms my soul and cures my depression. (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
And let's all bear in mind the casual depiction of date rape - the guys roofied the girls' drinks to fuck them, right at the start. That's fucked up too. This is Harada, after all. Even if it's not an intense psychological story, Harada drops the heavy shit like it's no big deal... but if you think about it it'll reeeeeally mess with your head.

Here, bottom middle panel when blondie's talking about "prep work" to do before the girls come up to the room. They also had the heating cranked up so the girls got flushed and hot - and Asaichi and blondie look at each other like "Yup, time to start." They're seriously predatory. Like I said, Harada just casually bringing the fucked-upness!
WHAT THE FUCK HE JUST TOLD YOU THAT HE HATES IT BUT DOESNT HAVE A CHOICE AND YOU SLAP HIM AND KICK HIM OUT?????????? WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK THAT'S NOT RIGHT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP HIM, COMFORT HIM. i'm in pain
Oh fuck yeah! The seme is really starting to PISS ME OFF.
he says he doesnt like it but that he wont stop, "I dont have a choice" is not true, is the "easy way out" would be the right way to say it, there's tons of poor people but not everyone ends up selling themselves, he can see that he is trying to help him, asking for advice of for help would be the right choice but asking "would you buy me?" deserved that punch, he is putting him in the same level as that pervert even thought he has showed him that his desire to help him is pure and sincere and at the same time he is putting himself down
Hard NOPE. Nothing he says is "deserving of that punch" because that sort of violence is wrong and not necessary. He is so young, he has grown up with this idea that his rape is his survival, he doesn't know that he has a choice. He is under so much emotional trauma that a sentence like "would you buy me" should be expected and accepted that he only said it out of distress. He was taught from a young age that in order to receive anything in life he has to offer his body. He hates it but he thinks thats the way it goes. Don't forget that he is a kid in school still.
Until the I read the last ch (in english because the raws I saw them long before) I would have agreed with you the "he was taught from a young age that in order to receive anything in life he has to offer his body" and the "doent know better" but HE DOES, the SEME thought so too, like you say "he doesnt know..." BUT HE DOES, he clearly said that he KNOWS that what's he is doing is wrong and the moment he learn it and kept doing it then is HIS BAD, and a slap is "unnecessary violence"? If I see or know someone I care about is HURTING HIMSELF/HERSELF and is AWARE of it but plans to keep doing it I would slap some sense into them, TO ME if it's to prevent them from something worse and words are not working then IT IS NECESSARY. Patronizing someone that really needs to be "educated" and not just pampered is wrong
