okay so what im hoping happened is that the author of the novel had some lingering regrets bout the direction they took for their story and wanted the manhwa to be better. otherwise the whole "we'll have this be a better story" sounds pretty disingenuous and rude to the actual author
author of the novel is different from the artist and the management team of the manhwa. usually most novel to manhwa adaptations just adapt the novel to art form. mostly they’ll cut out some content from the novel such as useless monologue and some scenes, but it should mostly be faithful to the novel and keep the same story beats.
from what i know about the manhwa industry the novel writer is usually hands off the manhwa but just approves whenever there’s changes that the manhwa team wants to do that’s different from the novel or if the characters and art matches what the author envisions. when the manhwa says that they’re changing the story, that’s a pretty big deal. so i’m hoping that the artist wanted this to happen, bc ik that the manhwa industry can kinda treat source material and the actual author trash.
anyways idk much spoilers but ik that huimin finds out about the art book and that he had two past lives. his first life was the story of the novel he transmigrated into. it wasn’t just a novel, it was his and ml’s actual life. so what essentially happened in their first life was that huimin and iheon died, and his art book came to life. huimin’s art book was an alternate universe that huimin wished he lived in: which was basically a non-omegaverse world and that he and iheon lived together as friends. now that they died, they reincarnate to the art book’s world. iheon knows that they live in this art book, and he treats huimin well in this life. but he feels selfish and wants to get with huimin, who in this life just treats him as a friend. he wants to get out of the art book, so what he does is make a novel form of their first life so that huimin can read it.
Now that Huimin has read it, this manages iheon and huimin to time travel(or transmigrate, i forgot which) back to the beginning of where huimin is being sold to iheon. huimin keeps his memories from only his second life and not his first. iheon forgets both, but remembers all of it pretty fast after they time travel. right where season 1 ends in the manhwa, iheon is basically trying to prevent huimin from remembering anything because he recognizes that if huimin remembers their first life, he’s going to run away from iheon.
in the novel that is what happens, huimin remembers(? i think, he at least knows what happens from their first life and decides he can’t take iheon back), so there’s a chase arc, and iheon redeems himself, and they get together properly. happy ending.
It seems like the story is building the New Doyoon to take responsibility in giving what OG Doyoon needed. Maybe he'll take down his abusive step-brother? Hoping..
If I'm right, this is gonna make this story leagues better than most transmigration stories, where MC's don't really care about the people who they basically steal their lives from (looking at At the End of the Road)
yall im trying so hard to understand the reason bc that shit had me GAGGED.
like did he just like do that bc he wanted yoohan to feel guilty so he could stay alive for wacko?? like my noodle brain cant understand the insanity
LMFAO yeah. the thought process is: yoohan has no desire to live, evidenced by his realistic suicide scene/no regard for his own safety. what wacko knows is that yoohan has been alive out of obligation/guilt towards his family -> answer, i’ll make MYSELF the object of his guilt. doesn’t matter if it isn’t out of love, yoohan needs to be alive, and in wacko’s life = he stabbed himself…. the brain of a crazy man ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
10/10 Review. This story is the definition of "us against the world". I've nothing but good words to say about this story. I loved the characters, art, plot. Fair warning to people who are planning on reading this story: if a reason to read is smut, ur not gonna find that much here. This story has romance as a sub-plot, and while the mc and ml's main motivator is each other in this story, u won't get that many wholesome moments.
Anyways, I liked that all the characters were complicated and flawed, and you really do love these characters despite how they are kinda red flags. I wanna cuddle and squeeze the MC's cheeks even though he's pretty emotionless aside from ML. And I liked how serious ML was in terms of survival and his backstory. They have a mutual obsession with each other, but everything is pretty consensual for the most part. Their chemistry is really good.
The apocalyptic setting was really fascinating, and the whole superpower plot was a good rendition to include. I would say the whole core-power thing was easy to understand for me because it reminded me of guideverse but without the whole "needing physical affection to survive" trope.
I liked the villains in this story, I think if we were to really have an apocalypse irl, corporations would really try to capitalize off our situation, and I think that made the story realistic for me. Because in this story the characters aren't REALLY trying to survive from zombies. MC is immune, ML was trained as a soldier. They're self confident that they can live a long life if their only problem was zombies. However, the villains were other humans, evil people who think ends justify the means.
I think that was the main theme of this story that the author wanted the readers to understand. Think about it like this: COVID in and of itself could've probably ended earlier if all of us stayed in our houses, wore masks, and took vaccines. Most of us did do that, of course, but we all probably know someone who didn't take that seriously, and that one person got infected and spread it to others. And thus Covid stayed as long as it did. It translates to this story too: the zombies are a problem for our characters, yes, but the main issue is the other bad people who rolled with the problem and made it way worse than it needed to be.
So yeah, I love this story
dropped at chapter 11 ew. ML is garbage. when someone asks u for exclusivity even if it’s just to fuck around u don’t just break that promise. Like?? imagine he got std’s or something and mc gets it from him b/c he cheated. bruh ain’t no way biggest ick
HE CHEATED??? Yeah im not gonna read this. Thanks for the comment.
Y'all he is born mentally ill he has this condition that makes him unable to understand emotions or wtv. Something like a sociopath ig. He just didnt know what he was doing was wrong bc he can't understand it. Someone has to point it out and tell him for him to understand. When he finally does, he tries his best to be a good partner for the uke. And the uke is very patient with him and helps him get better. The end is very wholesome. This is more of a psychological story about a mental illness than a romance one. I'm just letting yall know.
