I'm sorry, but every chapter I'm being more and more biased. What in the world are you getting upset at pretty boy?!
YOU'RE the one who thought it's a good idea to send your nephew away. YOU'RE the one who blindly trusted someone who'd kill your nephew without hesitation. YOU'RE the one, who let him live in an abusive household!
The hell did Maddie do??? She rescued your nephew without even bargaining with you, she treated him with kindness and she offered a better hiding plan, after seeing how yours failed so miserably.
"Oooh, but she only did it for the money!!"
1. So what if she did? At the end of the day, actions matter more than intentions. The duke obviously had kind and loving intentions, but his inaction led to his nephew being abused. Maddie might have had greedy intentions, but her actions led to him being rescued and safe.
2. She did not do it for the money, bffr. She could've made much more if she was the one who held the nephew hostage (since she clearly has the skills for it)) or if she waited until he was taken to offer the duke her help. Obviously, she extremely materially oriented, so she'll try to get cash out of it, but that was not there reason why she did it in the first place. I'm not even saying she's this kind and loving person, rescuing children left and right, just that she did it for the duke. She cares about the duke's well being, because she finds him interesting and he's her client, so she rescued the nephew to protect his feelings. So what if she wants some money out of the naive fool as well.
3. She's literally hired by him!!! Why would it upset him so, when they literally have a contract regarding her employment. She's not a long time friend trying to squeeze money out of him ((unlike some people)), she's just an overachieving employee. Just be glad your nephew is saved!!! Just reflect on how your foolishness nearly cost him his life!!! Just think about trusting Maddie more, since she literally warned you about your friend earlier!!!!!!
I want to hit the duke with a pan at this point, great story by the way, I'm really enjoying the characters and the story, it feels really unique mwah mwah
I really love this, it's not often there's such a tense and interesting story with a 90% female cast, plus all the designs and personalities are so interesting.
I will kill and die for Ai-san btw, if you can't handle an instable teenage girl with anger issues, then that is your personal weakness and not one of her character.
All of your family and loved ones get an email with your reading list (logged in or logged out) with titles, brief descriptions, links to the works and your comments. You get to pick if it's your ao3 reading list, or your mangago reading list. What do you pick? Does it make any difference? Can you ever look them in the eye again?
320 people did / 170 want to do
I hope Michelle is doing well, whoever she is with and whatever she is doing. Kaoru too of course, but she seems like a strong determined person who'll do well everywhere.
"I love complex characters and I love complex relationships in fiction and I especially love it when well meaning characters hurt each other despite loving each other dearly" I say through gritted teeth as the grandma invites Paula's abusive piece of shit uncle to make peace with him.
"knowing we can meet in a much more provocative way" omg baby boy wants dramaaaaa. He wants to be part of the narrativeeee. He wants to keep it interesting, to see where she'll lead him!
I think what makes this story be this fun is the balance in A's personality. Like he's not a complete pervert, he clearly wants to actually help, but he's not NOT into it
SCHUMAN NOOOOOOOO!!! THE AUTHOR RAN OUT OF IDEAS FOR THE MAIN COUPLE, NOW YOUR ASS IS ON THE LINE!! YAOI FLAGS ALL AROUND!!! PRO!TECT!YOUR!! ASS!!!!!
Oh my fucking god.
The art is simply breathtaking, not only in style, but in subject matter. The fashion, the hair and the scenes all work together to create a mysterious atmosphere. The story is also phenomenal and very relevant. What beautiful art, ancient history and incredible people have we lost to war and fire this year alone?
Like all the other characters, I fell in love with Yoiko. I adore her personality, her charm and her drive. At the start of the story she seems so fragile, yet as we see more of her life, it's obvious she was a great and brave person. I really like it when stories depict extremely conflicting values, here with Yoiko's dedication to art being greater than that to human life.
Ishimoro is a great character and it's tragic when you realize, that the two people who genuinely loved Yoiko couldn't never be with her while she was alive.
My last favorite thing is Yoiko's impact on Hana. In the last chapter it's just so obvious how much Hana loved and admired her. From the way she dresses to her demeanor, it all screams Yoiko! And there are other great parallels!! Yoiko commanded Ishimoro to live for her sake and Hana, desperate to be as important as he was to her, begs Yoiko to command her to do the same. God!!!!! I just love stories that are so full of love!
Obviously this manhwa is around the most realistic out there in comparison to other historical romances, what with the natural colored hair, tame neutral dresses and lack of magical powers, but even putting that aside, I love how realistic the characters are written. I love how the confines of their social status are constantly affecting her and the other women of the story, both in public and in private. How none of the characters are particularly malicious, but merely looking out for their own interests. How families aren't just the side characters, but a large part of how the main character are forced to live in their society .
Just the scene with him reading the letter kind of moved me! He's not this apathetic murder child of most historical manhwas, he's a little kid, who's big sister is about to leave him behind and it makes him so sad :,((
