Oh my fucking god.
The art is simply breathtaking, not only in style, but in subject matter. The fashion, the hair and the scenes all work together to create a mysterious atmosphere. The story is also phenomenal and very relevant. What beautiful art, ancient history and incredible people have we lost to war and fire this year alone?
Like all the other characters, I fell in love with Yoiko. I adore her personality, her charm and her drive. At the start of the story she seems so fragile, yet as we see more of her life, it's obvious she was a great and brave person. I really like it when stories depict extremely conflicting values, here with Yoiko's dedication to art being greater than that to human life.
Ishimoro is a great character and it's tragic when you realize, that the two people who genuinely loved Yoiko couldn't never be with her while she was alive.
My last favorite thing is Yoiko's impact on Hana. In the last chapter it's just so obvious how much Hana loved and admired her. From the way she dresses to her demeanor, it all screams Yoiko! And there are other great parallels!! Yoiko commanded Ishimoro to live for her sake and Hana, desperate to be as important as he was to her, begs Yoiko to command her to do the same. God!!!!! I just love stories that are so full of love!

Obviously this manhwa is around the most realistic out there in comparison to other historical romances, what with the natural colored hair, tame neutral dresses and lack of magical powers, but even putting that aside, I love how realistic the characters are written. I love how the confines of their social status are constantly affecting her and the other women of the story, both in public and in private. How none of the characters are particularly malicious, but merely looking out for their own interests. How families aren't just the side characters, but a large part of how the main character are forced to live in their society .
Just the scene with him reading the letter kind of moved me! He's not this apathetic murder child of most historical manhwas, he's a little kid, who's big sister is about to leave him behind and it makes him so sad :,((

This author is so good at pacing humor, smut and angst it's insane. The artist too, the minute expressions are fucking phenomenal and convey the complex thoughts of the characters perfectly. That moment when Kihoon's eyes went blank and he clearly had some traumatic flashback? Mwah, chef's kiss. Completely delivers on the vibe of whumpy AO3 fan fiction.

Fun fact, carrier pigeons don't work like that!
They don't know how to get to any other location than "home", so what they'd do back in the olden days, is raise a couple of pigeons at the castle, put one in a cage when they traveled and then released him with the message, so the people at the castle would know they're fine. The pigeon would not be able to go back to the person who released him, so back and forth messages would be impossible.
The same goes for borrowing someone else's carrier pigeon, as they'd obviously just want to stay in their home and wouldn't even know where they're supposed to go. Unless the duke has such an army of pigeons, that he'd sent them in cages to random nobles so frequently that they wouldn't re-home, on the off chance that someone might want to message him, they'd likely be unable to do what they did this chapter.
This comment has been brought to you by the suspension of disbelief police. I can understand omegaverse shadow powers, but I draw the line at genius pigeons!

Did they already set free the one they brought? I didn't have paid attention in the comic but when I read the book I know they had brought at least one pigeon.
I remember I thought about it and the book explained something about it... but it's been a lond time and they communicate a lot via pigeon so i can't remember clearly

Oooh, I didn't notice it at first, but all the things that interest him were gift someone received! A pen from her father, a wedding ring, the harmonica his friend got from his dad, a lighter from his son and a watch her received from his kids. Not only are they gifts, they're well loved and extremely sentimental. He couldn't have just bought them from a store, they didn't have that attachment.
It makes me wonder why he thinks the mc shines? It seems she's universally disliked, even by her own family.
It reminds me of E.A.Poe's Berenice, with the complete inescapable obsession with random objects.
Anyway this is turning out to be a really good psychological thriller so...you know....maybe treat it as such? This isn't a manhwa that failed at being a romance, it never existed to make people feel warm and fuzzy. It's about a serial killer, who is charming, but by no means rational, sympathetic or kind. Not only is it unfair to critique the story for not being a romance, you're setting yourself up for disappointment too! The lawyer will not become any kinder and the protagonist won't save him. If anything, I'd bet she's going to turn out rather cruel too, though in a protective way rather than a obsessive way.

It's so good oh my god. I don't understand the magic system at all, but it's very interesting. The fact that the same names of gods and nobles keep popping up from the beginning till now makes the story feel very lived in, like all the characters have some relationships.
The art style is INCREDIBLY charming. The expressions and the colors are so fun and I love all the designs. Though I will say that the hair is getting less and less detailed, but that'll probably come back, since most of the time was probably given to action scenes.
I'm. obsessed with the doctor. I don't even mean like, they're my favorite character here, they're just perfect on a mangago wide basis. I don't know what their deal is, what their gender is or anything at all, I just know I love the design and the personality.
SCHUMAN NOOOOOOOO!!! THE AUTHOR RAN OUT OF IDEAS FOR THE MAIN COUPLE, NOW YOUR ASS IS ON THE LINE!! YAOI FLAGS ALL AROUND!!! PRO!TECT!YOUR!! ASS!!!!!
It's just a 1-2 chapters it's somehow disgusting in the novel, but I guess I'm blind didn't saw that red flag , but fr tho I hate this ending so bad they made schuman a slut
