"... Even though my love for you might bring you harm... I just can't stop loving you." How selfish. To love someone isn't something that can be so uncaring. If you truly loved someone you'd want the best for them but you'd rather someone suffer physical and mental abuse, largely caused by you bc you don't actually care about him but that you can have him. Go die yourself rather than kill an innocent dude.
What is with these egotistical semes.
This had potential until that chapter!! Absolutely disgusting they'd establish that one of his sides are a literal child to then switch???? Even making the "old man" protector come would be understandably but that's so sickening no matter what. This writer doesn't understand this type of equivocal real life mental healthcare to do this. That would be traumatic, something a protector would stop for the host. Whoever the host is. Man, wtf? Even if nothing happened after I do not like where this is heading.
To add, it also seems like they're all the same God rather than different ones (in a literal sense) so yikes!
Ok, I'm not disagreeing with you, however, he's not human, so I'm not entirely sure we can equate this with actual DID. If this IS what the author was going for, yeah, that's fucked up.
It was also fucked up that the author went that far, but I don't place any blame on the mc because his actions were innocent. He was consenting to an adult. On top of all of that, it wasn't on purpose in any way, BUT the author didn't have to write it in.
I mean I did laugh initially at the sudden confusion and that the mc came cause it was all super unexpected and such, but after the guy reaction, I immediately felt the same way you said you did.
My only even remotely potential saving grace in this is that they're a god, and that it was an accident. Mc didn't know what's going on and
I was just thinking about this!!!!
I'm REALLY hoping that because they are all the same God/entity, it's just 3 parts of the main entity's personality. Like, the creepy guy being his shadow self, the glasses guy being his truest self, and then the child being his child-like personality. Hopefully it alludes to the third personality just being child like but not a *real* child. they GOTTA clean that up. It's getting weird...
...was did not predate anyone. So all in all, the only one at fault here is the author.
I agree, 100%! I'm pretty good at differentiating characters from authors intent and portrayal. Yeah, the MC is at no fault but the author definitely is. Usually, I don't make this stand so boldly and take the action as characters as they are but this isn't the case in this instance.
I get that. I'm having a difficult time with this myself. I'm not sure if I want to keep reading. I trust t the characters won't cross a line, but I have no such faith in the author and I'm not sure I want to read something from a mind that comes up with that. But I really do like the story so far and I can look past what happened if it doesn't happen again... Entirely because it's fiction mind you.
If this were real, if argue that a system with a child may not be fully able to consent... That goes into really really touchy territory though.
And at the end of all this, I'm not even 100% sure I'm comfortable feeling ok with how I'm feeling about the whole thing.
