I don't enjoy smut much anymore, I feel like it has gone boring. Whether it's vanilla, bdsm, or any other things it does nothing to me.
Nowadays I feel more drawn to the story element, to the more shoujo-like stuff, the tension between the protagonists when their hands touch by accident as they walk together, the romantic, magical atmosphere when they kiss for the first time, it's always those little moments that make me feel slight tingles at my fingertips and make my heart skip a beat! everything goes slowly so you'd get attached unlike the viral fast-paced manhwas of today full of smut, I don't really enjoy those I mean, who in their right mind would look at jinx for example and say "ah yes, good shit"???

no i completely agree with you it's like there's absolutely no feeling to the characters and they were just made to look hot and have sex. I guess yaoi/shounen ai have always been that way so it shouldn't come as a surprise, but as it's definitely gotten old. on that note, do you know any stories that really focus on the romance?? I'm starved of good character development and plot
Yea I feel like it’s because we’re all getting older and we’re passed the “horny” phase so now our standards are higher with what we consume as readers and we’re noticing frequent toxic troupes and unecessary sex in stories that authors keep throwing in and now we’re all kind of seeking those stories with childlike innocence that we now lack in our present reality.
U ARE NOT THE ONLY ONEE I feel exactly the same, like I live for slow burn bc it feels so much more meaningful and beautiful. and I completely agree w you about jinx, like that manhwa is garbage and disgusting. It's just so awful to see people romanticize s/a and rape.

It just doesn't feel intimate anymore like I want to feel the same tension of a slow burn in the smut parts too, there's so many stories where if you take away the smut smut just makes the story better since it just looks forced

Fr fr, also the fact that back when yaoi was much more scarce everything was much more unique. But now a lot of yaoi just follow the same formula. I like the smut but put some angst, some character. It's almost like every 5 chapters there's atleast sex scenes.
