hmmm you may be right. Though prostitution is illegal in general in Korea, my thinking was that I am aware that "massage parlors" for men for example are quite a widespread phenomenon that most authorities turn a blind eye to, and female sex workers are considered more commonplace. I thought that probably a man being a sex worker would seem more shameful to his kids, though probably a woman would have to be afraid of violence against her as well. I guess in the end it's not a competition, both positions are very vulnerable in their own ways..
