Maybe things would have been clearer if she simply told him she chose him to use him and dump him. Then he wouldn’t be taking this marriage seriously. Just saying. I mean, how is he to know he’s not allowed to fall for his wife and have any expectation from her? She would have been better off choosing Dante who is known to have mistresses hidden all over Mendoza.

Well, that’s the tricky part. Carcel is perfect because he’s part of the Royal family. The queen didn’t want Ines with her son but she also wanted Ines to remain affiliated with her because she comes from a powerful family. So the only way for her to really be left alone is by choosing Carcel as her husband. Intricate politics.

She told him specifically to not take it serious tho. She might not have told him her reason but she said “you don’t have to love me” and she doesn’t care what he does. It sucks that he fell in love but she doesn’t owe him anything

No she did not seriously tell him that he should cheat. He could easily take that as her playing mind games or being sarcastic. What she needed to do is seriously tell him she doesn’t intend to take their vows seriously, she wants out of this marriage and they should sign a contract. Let him know up front that he can keep or reject the proposal. If he really thought she was serious, why would he be surprised by what the crazy lady told him? Also, if you think she was so clear, why would this very issue be addressed later in the story?

Nah, she barely even reacted when he told her he was loyal to his family and that that’s what’s she would be to him when they would be married. HE told her how serious marriage was to him. She didn’t take him seriously and failed to foreclose that she wouldn’t be serious about it. That’s the point of her scheming about divorcing him when she was barely 10 years old and then ghosting him through their teenage years (minus when she was sick). She’s essentially been dictating the path his life would take since he was 6. Ain’t no way she “doesn’t owe him anything.” It’s precisely because she feels bad about manipulating his life that she wants to give him a child before the divorce. She thinks she owes him that much.

It's not one dimensional. The plot itself may be a basic enough concept, but the main characters have alot of depth. There is ALOT going on under the surface and I'm super intrigued to find out more. This story is a slow burn so we don't know all the details yet. There are plenty of BL out there with boring, flat characterisation, but this story definately isn't one of those. I love the story and art so much I buy both the English and Korean chapters. It really sucks for you if you don't enjoy it
