I’m trying to this isekai manga!!!! This girl is isekaied into an mmo type world with adventurers and such. She ends up joining a group as a cool/wizard I think? They end up doing terrible things to her and she’s traumatized for life. Fast forward it’s kinda romancy with a happy ending.

Can we talk about how much manga perpetuates unsafe sex practices?? Not just some of the unsavory scenes with lack of consent but just the extremely unrealistic, romanticized, or downright dangerous practices that go on. I can exclude a LOT of manga from this critique because they're targeted as smut, but then we have some seriously unok practices.. I really like some manga that brings up the issues that normal people have to face during sex? Like the fear of getting an std, real pain when its you're first time, etc.
Can we also talk about the fact that there is SO MUCH CHILD PORN in manga. I'm sorry but teenagers having sex is still child pornography and its not relatable because its not realistic.. I wish more manga artists acknowledged this at the very least. Japan's sex culture is extremely toxic and fetishized, and it leaks heavily into their manga in unsafe ways…thanks for coming to my ted talk
When I was around 17-20 I used to read DJs and smut with high school main characters. As I grew older, the thought of reading smut with below 18 y/o main characters just make me "eugh". However, teenagers having sex is not "not realistic". Personally, I live in a very conservative country. I'm in my 20s but I'm still a virgin. In other countries tho, like in the US, they lose their virginity in their teens (around 16-17) and some even shame you if your still a virgin in your 20s. I personally don't mind, tho sometimes I do want to fulfill my urges but I don't have a partner and haven't had one yet. It really depends on your upbringing and cultural background. As for Japan, according to a quick google search (may require more research) the average japanese loose their virginity around 19-20.
But yeah, sometimes whenever I read stories with non-con content, the story just won't feel the same way anymore. What really irks me is when one of the characters (usually the uke or the female character) looks so young. I just can't even though I love stories with age gap as long as they both like above 25 y/o. I love stories with cute height differences, but when the other character is literally drawn like a fcking child, I just don't even bother.
I just hope that the teens in this site will eventually realize the rights and wrongs once they get older and mature. Don't let the exposure ruin your moral compasses. I admit there was a time when I was so immune to red flags in mangas/manhwas etc since I started reading on wattpad and AO3 at an early age. But now, I know better.
Can manga please start writing rape victims as RAPE VICTIMS. Stop romanticizing rape plz. I’m not just talking about the semes raping the uke, but the uke being like “I don’t want this, but I do!” Please. Stop. Idk if the artist is worried that the minute they take that aspect of those scenes out, they’ll get backlash for drawing straight up rape.. but seriously, if you’re going for that kind of scene just do it, it’s not supposed to be fetishized, ITS RAPE. I wish story writing was better in manga and comics.. I think a lot of artists rely on their art to do the heavy lifting, but never use any story devices which sells the characters more. It’s honestly become an iconic style of writing, the characters are unreal and it’s related heavily to manga now.. however there are so many simple techniques they could use, without having to change anything they’re doing. If characters kiss less often, it makes when they do more impactful. Instead of there being “the kiss” in many kisses, it’s “the kiss” through a long couple chapters of tension. Tears, I think tears are used terribly now, they’re far more impactful if a man sheds them, or if they’re only used in extremely impactful situations. Far too commonly are they used in sappy love scenes, or after the tension is dissolved. I’m just nitpicking but you get the idea… I wish manga had more variety in it’s writing, and the writers did more research, they’d end up having to do less with their art too, more impactful scenes and less crazy buildup.

I think generally a lot of mangas in one way or another fail to do this? A lot of Korean manga more-so. Netkama punch spurred this tangent, but I think sooo many manga have really poor stories being carried by the art, instead of using plot to create impact they use lots of flowery images which is fine but if it’s the billionth time this has happened it’s incredibly lacking. I think also “everything under the baby’s feet” when he was standing up to his dad. if he cried or his father recognized that his child is legitimately afraid of him I think the scene would’ve been more impactful. Alas we can’t always get what we want, but it’s things like this that I wish artists would look at more yknow? every scene tells a story, so every scene should be treated like it’s the most special.

I really love the reincarnation/isekai where a girl becomes a mother/motherly figure to a child, I just wish some of them had a more mother/child nature? Also more motherly instinct yknow.. I feel like the child just turns into an exstention of the male lead most of the time.
This is why I liked I became the heros Mom. I feel like there was more of a dynamic between the mother and son that didn't completely rely on the main lead. Also I raised Cinderella preciously has good mother/daughter dynamics
