I rather her take up her own identity, like I understand she doin it for Emi but even as an observer her whole life she still can't be her and technically she's not, it's just the fact that she's using Emi as a mask. She obviously has an ego/ personality of her own and since she's been exiled she has all the right to behave however she pleases without having Emi as a front. At times it also seems like she's heavily tricking herself about what emi wants when it definitely feels like her own desires are definitely mixed in. There's a difference between live a life and being an observer of that persons life.

I kept fucking saying it but Fl had options she is literally in the most opportune place to gain info through gossip and the like her father inst so powerful that he could restrict so much info from her. And as the only daughter she should be more aware of what the house is going to look like since she would be the caretaker even when married. SHE HAD THE CHOICE TO LOOK THINGS UP AND FIND THINGS OUT she just didn't choose those options. She choose to be ignorant not because of only her family but simply because she had no interest in the outside world. She doesn't even know how to take care of her self and u can't say because she's royalty, even an interest in making yourself a midnight snack or making something u tasted before should have ignored her curiosity but FL has no curiosity. She's like a doll with no thought, the ballerina on the musical box she will keep dancing to the same toon until it's broken and she has to crawl her way through janky notes.

The OI you read, those are modern women sent into medieval times and so they have those hobbies. This is an actual noblewoman doing what they really would have done.
The reality is she and everyone in her immediate vicinity did not have to take care of themselves the way you or I do and so her perspective from then is very different. What I appreciate about her is that when she needed to change, she could. She pushed aside everything she knew from when she was born to learn and do better.

girl you're looking into this in a prospective as a reader who have read the entire context of this story. Just look at Marie Antoinette. She tried to help the peasants but it was tone deaf. Literally gave them mini houses to live in but to nobility it looked like a fucking freakshow. You are speaking in a place where it's something you would. You're just like her ex husband lmao
I'm talking about a perspective of when she could have been a child and want to be interested in different things and did I say anything about modern,no. But it's just a basic example of what she could have had curiosity about and I have expectations of no one because that's the worse thing you can do to a person or character. But even as a nobel lady no matter how "isolated" they were they would still have social circles, the rumors of war still would have been circulating or would begin to circulate. And if so it would be something having to do with her father who was a minister of defense or war, and she's a daddies girls so you would have thought that at one point she would be concerned about her father atleast. But even when her father died she didn't try to learn anything although she was in a miserable situation but she didn't even try to figure out what lead to it she just heard gossip from the servants etc

Maybe I'm just saying it this way because I'm a theater kid and had to do a lot of reading on stuff but she is a musician which means she could have watched plays in which she was interested in scores. And seeking information isn't acting like a normal person it what a person need to have a better understanding of their world, that's why common sense isn't common until it taught. But anyways back to the plays they could depict current event going on around her, even from her father's time etc. I don't really care much about her as a character but from a performing arts perspective it's the fact that she never tried to seek different perspectives from performing arts or irl situations I guess. It's hard to explain this and I would think at this point I already showed I don't care much about her as a character but more about the social circles and information she had access too. Which couldn't be completely blocked from her because she is in the music circle although catered to nobility, but I'm pretty sure she would have been interested in where the artist inspo for their pieces came from because her house is also surrounded in art and she frequently meets with other artists to. I just don't understand how she would be completely unaware because her father can't control everything and everyone especially if they are foreign performers or even the stage hands in the back that prep things.
