_The prince knew the original host from childhood and was jealous of her freedom .She did whatever she want no matter who it was, she even stole from him and threw tantrums .The parents said they tried everything but the prince even as a kid could tell how loved she was.He felt they were equal but yet so different .He felt it was unfair he worked so hard to please people yet he was afraid of losing their affection .
He had the same problem as the ML from the abandon empress but was aware of it.
-He respect the host father but felt hurt because the father switched allegiance to a better prince so he turned petty but he controlled his emotions.So he never cross the line but He didn't trust him anymore because as a kid he liked the dad a lot.
-He planned to string the host along and consider her a hostage to keep the father in check. The father was still powerful but was slowly losing his foothold .
-He falls in love with MC really fast .He regrets blowing her off at the party but he had a good reason.He was at a meeting trying to figure out how to stop the drought and help people. He was hurt when she asked his brother to escort her at the next party.
-He never felt emotions since childhood so he struggle to keep his jealously in check. This was funny to see as a reader. Many guys got hit by his jealously .
-He loved the MC and they went through many struggles to stop the drought and stop slavery so he was hurt she went with the brother at his birthday. He assume MC knew he was in contract with FL because MC so smart .She even caught FL spy . Mc didn't know at all.
-He broke the contract with FL saying she kept trying to get his affection and hurt the economy by giving out too much charity to get fame.
-Fl is hurt. She planned not to be greedy because ML treated everyone bad but everyone can see how much he cherish MC.
FL refuses to step down because she jealous and tasted power which is sweet as honey.
-She got the Queen and nobles on her side .MC got the king and prince .Most people are unsure who to side with because prince gave MC his robe among the cheers of the people but escorted Fl at parties .The prince also took Fl to meet the queen and nobles but Mc went to the poor region. What people dont know is that MC wanted to go there so when he took FL all he did was work day and night so he can clear his schedule for MC. FL knew but pretended they were lovey dovey.
Later people knows he loves MC because he wear a cheap ring MC brought as a souvenir at the town.She also wore something similar while FL wore a ruby by the king but it didnt fit her clothes .(the king gave MC a set that match her perfectly) .
She justified shopping for souvenirs as a necessitie by buying things no one could sell to help that region (one with drought) economy.
