So for him to act like that is because he thinks his wife is fine living off with his money, he didn't know how to treat others especially how to treat your loved one especially his wife, of course. He's ignorant (or just hardheaded) has a trauma from his past (he still has it). He's getting used by his parents (I don't think he knows, maybe because they've been treating him with care, he doesn't suspect them.) And the money. He has never cared about the words, or how it would impact others. (Idk how he got the deals though?) (Plot maybe?). So from my perspective, he's just a hard person to deal with.
