You could say that but I feel like its not a waste in the way that its him standing his ground. Instead of scrambling for a way to make sure he receives something from the gift he throws it away. Essentially realizing that there's no need to keep chasing after him.
His hard work was brought on because of his love for him, and in the end it was a waste anyway because it wasn't received or reciprocated. So that's why he throws it away instead of scrambling to get back what he's lost. He doesn't need to waste any more energy chasing after him.
The gift is symbolic to his feelings and he's throwing them away. Asian cultures specifically write stories with a lot of symbolism. If you don't pick up on those things you miss out on a lot of the intended story.

Is that the part where he says he hypnotised toono the last page? I see something like a broken image after that doesn't want to load so that's why I'm asking
I see why you said this but think of it in this way, the story was so focused on the main couple and their lives, we barely saw what the side characters were up to.
It’s like they were there for a plot device. Hopefully the author fleshes them out more!

The author is probably thinking we'll go "Awwww ╥﹏╥" when he does that but i am sure that i'll go "you're late you fuckface, why now? (╯°Д °)╯╧╧"

If he does, the genre would be changed into #humor #comedy
That's what I'm talking about.
