the ones that confused me were shotacon, seinen and doujinshi as first so imma explain those. shotacon is revolving around sexual “happenings” with children… not my cup of tea but whatever. if you’re into that, harada (I think is the name) is an author I hear about a lot. seinen is stories targeted for young adult men. doujinshi are fanfictions, usually sexual. Uhh there are some others that people don’t know like the difference between shounen ai and yaoi is that yaoi usually revolves around a sexual gay relationship and shounen ai is more fluff ans usually doesn’t have any lemon (smut). Any genres in specific you don’t understand?

adult - sex / horror
josei - its bascially shoujo and basically just romance manga m x f
seinen - its basically shounen and basically just deeper/mature stuff like ex. death note
