first half of the story so far has been amazing, i binged it so quick and the art style was so stunning. i love the character designs at the start but the way the story is going and how the art style has evolved, i’m sooo upset. it feels like the characters look younger now than they did after the time skip! how is that possible?? i’m so sad the artist has favoured a more youthful artstyle :( and i also wish the story continues with more direction like it did at the start
I think the reason the characters look younger is bc they were all in their 30s in the previous life but bc they got sent backwards less time has technically passed making them all younger, like the mc who was 33 at first is now in his very late teens (18-19) or early 20s. So I think they look younger because they are now? Idk if that makes sense lmao
ahaha no i get you, the story did start with them in their 30s and but i meant when they reunite as 18 year olds, the art style made them look mature like the art was at the beginning when they were 30. and now the story is continuing and they should be older than 18 now and so their appearance should be maturing too (or at least stay the same?!) so i thought they would look the way they did in the first few chapters. but instead they just look younger and twinkier?!
does anyone think the art style has regressed or is it just me? i think sebastian especially looks worse than he did at the beginning of this arc (when they were running away from r!ciel) and i can’t tell why but he looks so off in recent chapters.
still happy to finally see the main characters theyre my faveeeee
i was eating those side stories up!!! does anyone have any recs where the plot is basically like the side story lol
If you want this historical era, there's under the plum blossom tree, steel under silk, and painter of the night, bonchon bride maybe though that isn't as much of a power imbalance type story. If you want the plot of a dragon god, there's dawn of the dragpn, keeper of the pearl, and where the dragons rain falls.
wooyeon is such a bastard but he’s such a well written psychopath. comparing the way he was at the start vs now and how he’s starting to develop some level of emotion bc of inseob… it reminds me of hannibal in a way. like you can’t even call what he’s feeling love but it’s something where before there was nothing and he’s sooooo awful to inseob it feels like watching a car crash i need the next chapter neowww
Yes. Honestly feels like one of the most accurate depictions of antisocial personality disorder I've read, in BL at least. It makes for a ML that is obviously hard to empathize with, but that's the point. I was half expecting an ending panel with ML's face back to ice cold-- and all this show of emotion was just a manipulation to trick mc into wanting to stay.
i agree! i definitely feel that a lot of BLs play up the psychopath ML and subsequently use a lot of sexual violence and abuse as plot points where it feels like it’s more for just shock factor/trauma p**n. i think it’s much rarer to come across one like wooyeon whose motivations are so blatantly expressed to the reader, and like you said, it makes him much harder to empathise with when we know how manipulative he can be (i wouldn’t be surprised if you’re right that he’s manipulating him rn!) vs other MLs. and i think this author actually does a great job of utilising his sociopathic tendencies to explain his actions and how everything he does is completely self serving
