Barbarian Quest
For some reason people forget that Urich isn’t a hero, he’s the protagonist. And he’s not a good person. In fact, none of these characters are good people, save for a few of the side characters. That’s the point. This story is about people. Completely imperfect people. Their faults and strengths. Their journeys through life and death and how they deal with their own mortality. They’re people who fight desperately for what they want even if that means betraying those dearest to them. These are the most human characters I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Their journeys and struggles. Their deaths and their religions. This world is lived in. It has rules which are meant to be broken. This story is so unbelievably human it genuinely blows my mind. A lot of people have also complained about religion being brought into the story and how Urich just accepts it, but for a story that is about people, or more accurately, one specific person, religion is going to be an integral part. Especially for someone looking for his own purpose in life. That’s what real people go through. This is probably one of the best stories I’ll ever read and I’m not even exaggerating. It’s so raw and powerful that it’s hard to think of it as only being fiction.
For anyone looking at the comments to see if this is a good read; it is. Read it. It’ll blow your socks off. And if it doesn’t, that’s cool. Thanks for trying out something I’m so obviously passionate about ;v;
