i hope more manhwas similar to this come out.. i love isekai/historical/fantasy settings but i’m tired of clicking on something with the “drama” tag and it’s just a love triangle like girl that’s just a romance… on the other hand this story is pretty much entirely focused on ercella’s familial conflict— it’s not just something added in the backstory for spice, it’s a complicated issue (ercella being very young & isolated during her pregnancy, postnatal depression that turned into clinical depression, her father in law AND her father AND her sister passing away, the complete lack of agency she has as a woman, her thinking harsen married her just to escape the princess, her maiden family being resented by everyone etc) and it can’t be solved in a mere 40 chapters.. definitely crying a lot while reading this but it’s gratifying to see her and vicente and harsen slowly approaching their problems— and sometimes making it even worse lol, in a way that is realistic rather than the author deciding for a key character to have an inexplicable change in feelings that completely retcons all their character development up until that point
tornian is probably bottom ranked for me in chitra’s harem (no hate at all i just prefer my men stupid and obedient) but i’ll admit that panel where he calls her noona was an instant oneshot KO .. his radiance was literally blinding

honestly after reading this all in one sitting my overwhelming response is …. I … love karsus .. author-nim i am so happy with your choice and characterization. fantasy coloured long hair (as opposed to typical short black/blonde hair), a reputation of NOT getting involved with women aside from over the top flirting (as opposed to standard womanizer prince who gets reformed), works as a mercenary and gleefully avoids taking in responsibility (as opposed to being an heir to a noble family and/or knight)… these are all traits i loveeeee, yet they are also standard second male lead traits. so it was immensely gratifying to see karsus being the only ml for the entire story and getting a happy ending
the rest of the story is pretty typical (only thing that really stood out was the am i human/monster angst- ngl i shed a tear at one point) and the evil beast world/twins’ evil “father” plotlines were never really.. resolved .. laurence was just like Actually killing humans for no reason isnt as fun as i imagined. I will voluntarily leave forever now. andromeda everyone else was like … What am i gonna do, Say no? but regardless of flaws if you like the flirty ml with intimacy issues trope.. it’s worth reading for karsus… he is so sexy and honestly kind of a himbo (we love dumb men here) and just a pinch yandere but not so much that you’ll feel guilty or unfeminist for enjoying it .. and did i mention he has long hair? and it’s blue? it’s just really important to me that people know this

considering how this webtoon started i never anticipated how wholesome yoon & vasya’s relationship would end up being..not just vasya worrying that this incident would trigger yoon, but also the way that yoon always looks genuinely happy when he’s with vasya now which makes you realize how rarely he smiled earlier in the story
ALSO that was a big deal imo when vasya said he was gay if he was dating yoon . like discussion over whether he’s actually bi or had a late in life discovery isn’t the point. any bl where the seme starts off “straight”… they still think of themselves as straight with an exception by the end of the story. and especially if the uke is openly gay, it puts a lot of pressure on them. even if like the seme finds out about the uke’s worries, they usually just say things along the lines of “i don’t want some woman i want you” etc. which is avoiding the issue entirely. it’s a huge step to identify as gay because that’s not just supporting and commiting to your gay partner, it’s accepting that you’re also part of that community, you’re also going to have to face discrimination, you’re also going to be casually insulted by people who don’t know your sexuality, you’re also intrinsically connected to a huge social issue that people often treat like a debate topic instead of an actual problem.
anyways props to vasya and author for that, it really bumped my impression of him higher than anything in this story so far, and i think you can tell from yoon’s response that it was quite meaningful for him as well.
Yeah, I agree now that I think of it, we hadn't seen Yoon look so happy before. I guess I've just gotten used to seeing his happy face that I forgot that he wasn't so much before.
I do disagree on the straight thing though. I think it's perfectly fine for someone to say they're straight even when they have a male partner. I mean usually these characters have never been attracted to a man, never had and do have general attraction to men, have always had crushes of girls, watched straight porn and still have a general attraction towards women. And they still don't get off on mxm porn. I don't think it's fair to say that if you love a man but fit that criteria you need to say you're gay. They aren't sexually/romantically attracted to men. They romantically/sexually attracted to women. They just have an exception. Maybe they aren't exactly gay/bi/straight but they can have the full choice as to how they identify themself since it's a mirky case.
I just want you to know that this case above probably does fit someone right now. So, keep in mind that these examples or what I'm about to say fits someone's living condition right now.
I don't think it's fair to them that they need to go under a label that identifies as an attraction to men, because they identify that they don't. So, I don't think it's right to say to an author that they need to put them under that label, because it's not right in real life.
Also, that part about making their partner uncomfortable is something I disagree with. If you feel self-conscious that your partner doesn't love you because they say they like women but you're an exception, it's on you. What are you insecure about? That the attraction is fake? Why? Because they've never liked a man before? How about if he identified as bi but still doesn't have an attraction to men, does that change anything? Is he suddenly the better choice? Nothing's changed. If they have sex with you, spend all their time with you, say they love you and express that, you can't say they're uncomfortable with you and that he might be not sure of his feelings. If he expresses his love just as a gay man would, who's to say their love is less valid?
Thirdly, that part about discrimination. I don't know if you've heard this "saying" before but I'll paraphrase it as much as I can. "If a homophobe calls faggot behind you (a bi woman) and your (lesbian) girlfriend on the street, he wouldn't apologize to you and take back his words if you shouted you were bi." Obviously, this doesn't fit our case but it still works. If a man were to come up to his family saying he was in love with a boy but he was straight, what do you think would happen? Would his family be relieved that he clarified he was straight? No, homophobes will always discriminate. If you love men or just 1, it doesn't matter. You can't hold your boyfriend's hand as you usually would even if you identify with yourself that you're not gay. You can't bring up that this ring on your hand was given by your husband at work or else you'd get ostracized. The thing in quotes is a completely valid response because what else can they say? They're not attracted to men, they're attracted to women. They want to identify as such. Obviously, is it the same (the discrimination)? No, I'm not saying it is. But to say their attraction is just as accepted as wxm attraction is not true.
I did use to agree with you and felt annoyed at authors for this ridiculous trope but I don't think it's that bad now.
However, when a character is expressing disgust at the idea that they could be gay, that's an issue that authors implement and it annoys me as much as the other guy. That's not what I'm talking about though.
