He's not annoying (to me) just very self sacrificing and righteous, Also is trying to prove their worth and get stronger. I guess you can call those qualitys annoying, but bro is just a 14 year old jit and still have a lot of growth as a character.
those aren’t inherently annoying traits, nor what i was really talking about. he’s just an idiot, rarely thinks through anything, and is not really able to hold a conversation with most other characters. but it’s only really annoying bc it feels like he was more competent at the beginning and has just gotten weaker and more annoying.
Eugene was never competent to begin with and is still weak(compared to strong enemies), again he is 14 and the only world he knew was the Felivia estate where he lived in this bubble with his family.. Ofc people are going to be stronger than Eugene, most of his battles he survived because of outside interference. His uncle, brother, the brother’s assistant, his mother even the new friends he made at school all helped him. He knows that he is weak(nothing wrong with team work) when it comes to strong enemies he always had help. Even though he’s technically prodigy he still needs experience from the outside world. I don’t know about not really holding a conversation part with others(in my opinion) I see him getting along with his classmates and even up lifts class D and tries to encourage them, since all the other mages discriminate them.
he showed much more potential early on when he was saving that village. either way all of that being true wouldn’t make him any less annoying.

Well, that's because some people fantasize about it happening to themselves. That's why in these stories we always focus on the victim and their perspective. This doesn't mean that they would really want to become a victim, in fiction you have full control over what happens, that's why it's just a fantasy. It's a kind of kink, where you play pretend with partner but in this case the consent is between the author and the reader, and the layer of fiction and game is already in the fact that these things are not real. Sometimes it is linked with masochism as well.
That said, it's perfectly okay to be uncomfortable with it. Even people with this kink often have mixed feelings and discomfort over fiction like this. It is complex topic to be fair.
