As other commenters have said, this is not your traditional, period romance manwha/webtoon. I think of this story as a Jane Austin, Anne Brontë, Charlotte Brontë, inspired piece. Diverting from the usual novel format, and applying a literature style of storytelling, to the modern manga/manwha/webtoon medium.
I have been reading this story from the first chapter. Previously commenting on the similarites between this story and "Agnes Grey." A novel by Anne Brontë, a splendid author of only two books. Anne, often is overlooked due to Charlotte, author of Jane Eyre, and Emily Brontë, author of Wuthering Heights, who were her sisters.
If this story does not suit a person's aesthetic, no harm done. I personally enjoy many stories of the isekai/romance genre. However, I often forget their storylines and characters because they are too similar, requiring a refresher before continuing. This story, never.
Pardon me for presuming to speak on behalf of those who enjoy this story. Hating a story without reason, the characters do not fit the standard model of the typical romance, you "just don't like" it, is not a relevant nor supported argument. Constructive analysis of character's, their development, or lack thereof in cases, plot structure/devices, stereotypes, societal influences and expectations, among other items too long to list. Those topics make for good discussion of a piece.
As someone who appreciates this story, to those who "just don't like it", who do not support their dislike with evidence sourced from the work, I am sure there are hundreds of other stories on this website you would enjoy and will bring joy to your lives.
Referencing what one of the tombstones said about an evil fairy with red eyes. I am wondering if that is the emperor. Or perhaps something possessing the emperor. It seems likely now with the information we learned in the last two chapters about the imperial family's link with the epidemic. I was going to say the emperor is the only character with red eyes, but then I remembered Jin.
Shout out to the author for their creativity and dedication to not rush intimate scenes. Director Kang could have just grabbed Mr. Ahn's wrist and drug him to the apartment door in a flurry of excitement. Like every other couple in a rush. Instead, starting with just one touch on the hand, escalating to full body contact provides readers with much more interesting and sensual content.
I find the chemistry between the ML and FL very pleasant. With their relationship steadily developing. The plot is well built and engaging despite the plot being a common one found in isekai stories. Logic still has a place and the villians make sense and receive their just deserves. The story progression includes all we need to know with little room for filler which I appreciate deeply. No need to waste my time with useless chapters where nothing happens just to lengthen dramatic effect. I'm looking forward to more chapters and where the story goes from here.
