I will not lie. Out of the millions of zombie apocalypse stories, this surge of environmental apocalypse stories isn't a bad thing. I've noticed that they get shorter preparation time in comparison to others, but that also make things a little more interesting. What I don't understand is people's fascination with having these things take place in NYC. XD

So this is usually my favorite "genre" of fantasy. The exiled noble with "useless" magic leave their toxic home environment to find happiness somewhere they can build a life for themselves, but this? It's a great premise, but subpar execution.

If the development of his new home was stretched out more, I could see myself continuing to read this. But with how it is now? I don't much care for it. I thought it would be a couple of chapters of him and Wood bonding and making a home, but the moment an Elf girl showed up. My expectations plummeted. As if it couldn't get any worse, suddenly when he needs skilled craftsmen, who should appear but a group of random dwarves? A group of random dwarves falling all over themselves to be his labor force because he slapped some bandages on them? Yeah, if my hopes for this hadn't hit rock bottom already, it was kicked off a cliff into the void.

Yeah, no.

Hell, the Dragon thing makes sense more than the other two seeing as the forest is seemingly said to be teeming with monsters. If the Dragon had been the first encounter he had, it would have led to him receiving a blessing from them after he rendered them help. Then I could understand other beings showing up one after the other, maybe due to some luck he gains from the blessing. He seemingly has had no luck in anything else, so getting a blessing would've been able to explain why he's suddenly getting all the luck now.

The whole thing with his sister and brother suddenly caring about their "useless" brother is just stupid. There's no build up to this. Sure, we can just assume that the MC is an unreliable narrator. However, its clear that at least the younger sister didn't seem to care much as the two of them hadn't even held a conversation in such a long time that the MC was sure she didn't care for him. The father is a piece of work, because as someone who has a hand in the military, why would he think his son's nature magic is useless?

He can literally grow crops. The same crops that can feed your troops, feed your territory, etc. Like just because he can't club someone in the head with the magic, doesn't make it useless. It doesn't matter how many enemies you can take out with a lightning spell if your troops and people are starving. Ugh, whatever. I'm just done with this one.

All of it as it is presented is contrived and as if the mangaka is just fulfilling a checklist of magical beings to get out of the way just so they can focus on stuff they want to do. Everything is just conveniently happening to and for the MC with little actual effort on his part. That's lame.

I'll give this a 2/5. 1 star for the premise and the second for Wood, because they are adorable! (▰˘◡˘▰)

You became a mistress only to fail in getting the equal standing you were hoping for!

This is just the beginning, but the three-chapter/episode rule will always be king. The premise for this is great, especially since global warming is a concern of the world despite the topic never getting the attention it deserves. I was looking forward to seeing how this apocalypse story started, but the more I read on...the less enthusiastic I was getting with all this.

It's also evident that whoever is writing this, has no idea about anything that has to do with New York.

The art style isn't offensive at least. The MC's design caught my eye and made me want to read it, after seeing a video summary of it on YouTube. However, this didn't meet my expectations. I'll keep an eye on it, but I am drastically lowering my expectations from here on out. (〜￣△￣)〜 (Chapter 9 is where I stopped)
