first I really wanted to understand how this is considered good, the protagonist is definitely NOT a bad person, did he make the mistake of telling? YES! but he didn't encourage anyone to bully the guy. including what the fuck is this to want to kill yourself in front of him? If this was love, I don't want to know what hate is. I'm so sad that he had to run after the person who tried to rape him in the first few chapters like, I didn't see him crying and humiliating himself for that now the protagonist does and for an idiotic reason. anywayyyy
yes it is. just because they have so much BL and jgv doesn't mean that they're not homophobes. because boys love aka gay people aren't really considered as "sexuality" and more like "romance/porn genre" in there, and it's most popular with girl audiences aka fujoshi. they are more accepting the concept of yaoi in anime, manga, jgv, but if they see gay in real life they will most likely judge them.
"They have so much BL" because it's one of the few queer genres out there. Young people in Japan are much more progressive than their predecessors. The recent surveys show how many of them are in favor of gay marriage and queer rights but because their governments are run by 80 year old boomers, they can't do much about it. It isn't that far fetched to think why many young people are willing to create and consume BL/GL as a result. Let's not just assume things like that based on our feelings and stereotypes we see thrown around by others.
not the lesbian yaoi
