I am not going to lie, I laughed harder than I should have when he said he only has sex with women that won't catch feelings for him. But in small print (But I do make mistakes sometimes.)
I noticed some people have issue with him referring to his sex partners as "sex toys" and ranting about him treating woman like crap. The thing is he doesn't do that at all. When he enters a sex buddy relationship that is all it is and he makes that clear. There are no feelings there and it is just to satisfy each others lust. End of. If the ladies get attached because of honest compliments he makes while they are fucking then that is on them and not him.
Also if you listen to the office gossip everyone (ladies included) think very highly of him and his work ethic. Some women have approached him but he has politely rejected their offers. In the case with Sayo I think he legit likes her but doesn't know how to express it any more since all he has known for a year and a half is just loveless sex. He has already admitted/hinted two-three times that he has lost and doesn't care. Also once she admits that she lost and doesn't want to continue he feels lost without her and sex doesn't feel the same with anyone else.
Gonna end my ramble here...
Art was nice but story was really fucking trashy. Both brothers sexually assaulted her and no police were called... seriously. WTF.
I heard some time ago that reporting rape is generally not a thing in japan since 'it tarnishes the family's name'. The culprit being her brother makes that even worse. I guess?
But I assume the author would excuse it with a 'she loves her family very much!' explaination. #-.-)
But yeah, that was just one of the biggest nails in the coffin for this story. They should have AT LEAST kicked him out.
But instead she suddenly switches to being charmed and blushing, wtf.
Right?? I nearly flipped my imaginary tablet that moment. I mean, forgiving is one thing but that was really just random and felt more like the author had no idea how to get a conclusion for that incident. Which makes me wonder why it happened in the first place, that should be author ABC. But noooo~. She suddenly doesn't care at all.
That's all just weird and infuriating. #-.-)
And even the brother that did it was like "I'll understand if you wanna have me arrested." BUT SHE FUCKING DOESN'T!!! She's just like. "I won't forgive you but can we just forget that it happened and just move on?" THAT IS NOT HOW SEXUAL ASSAULT WORKS!!!
It seems like the assault was used as a plot device and author was like "Let's just sweep it under the rug since she is such a wonderful person who is strong despite all of this happening!"
Yeah, it was the all popular 'Let's say something to have said it, but not really mean or want it' kinda talk.
SO. INFURIATING.
I mean, I get that you can forgive and forget, even in situations with violence and rape (it takes a while to make emotions and actions clear and come to a solution for it all, but it can happen with some people) but if the author made the girl behave disgusted and angry, they can't just do a 180° and act as if everything was just a bad joke or whatever. That's really bad writing. :/
True. I have seen enough situations in fiction that used severe things to get to a certain point quickly or bring something across, but if you don't put effort into the event and consequences it has then...don't do it? I figured that out during my first amateur stories: Had a situation I wanted to get into and rushed to it with a shitty reason. Of course it ended up being trash. XD
I think bringing out her super loving side, or whatever it's supposed to be, could have worked MUCH better if the situation ended with the brother not being able to actually touch her since he treasures her so much or whatever reason (would have made HIM likeable too, by the way..). But yeah...rape/near-rape was really too much and made the resulting reactions just random, weird and darn stupid.
I wanna know which editor greenlit this. They proofread this stuff...usually anyway. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I think I got brain cancer reading this trash...
