The way this ended had a visual novel feel. You know which one I mean. The one where the MC ends up with no one and where no one is really happy and there is no proper conclusion.
It is a shame because the art is really amazing and the plot was pretty interesting too. But the ending just felt empty... like they didn't know where they were going any more.

In the beginning Wolfgang swore he would make Shin his so he could remove the cloak and therefore would no longer be the property of the King.
I will also point out that his reaction was similar when he dressed up Wolfgang in the official palace attire that Princes need to wear on special occasions. He changed a pauper into a prince.
The "I have made this man King..." I think is it just hitting home. What will happen now? Will history repeat itself or will Wolfgang actually be a good King? So many people suffered under his father, himself included but does that mean he will be fit to play the part as King?
What we need to remember is that Wolfgang went into this, at first, with the intention of setting Shin free. (A very selfish goal.) However, in the process he has changed and grown as a person.
I think the reason Shin is acting as he is is because the reality of it all has hit him. All if them have worked so hard to make Wolfgang King and now it is finally here. To top it off he now has to live up to the deal he made with Wolfgang all those years ago. When you think about it he is probably scared inside right now. He doesn't know what Wolfgang is like when it comes to being his lover and the only experience he has in that department is abuse. I think I would be scared if someone I trusted was suddenly in a position that they could abuse and made a declaration like that.
Hopefully things won't go tits up but only time will tell.

When Shin had his doubts about if Wolfgang could be fit as a king (because of his lack of knowledge in official and serious areas.) won Shin over with his attitude of trusting other people to deal with affairs he did not understand. In Wolfgang's eyes, a kingdom can't be ruled by just one person. He just leads it and will have other people assisting him in areas that he does not understand. This is what makes him different from not just his father but also his late brothers. (That along with his compassion for the common folk.)

Where is the safe word? While I do like reading this sort of stuff it feels a bit shitty that even though he "consented" that there was no agreed safe word. In all BDSM sessions there is always an agreed safe word for when you want to stop. This let's the dom know when they need to give the sub a little space to recover or if they are going a little too far. It is a two way street and this dom isn't doing his job properly.

in chapter rwo, the seme said "you know how to stop me" so i had assumed that they had a safe word...

So what? Are you reading in a vacuum?
That felt a bit... cut off?
