basically you will like the first couple since they're pretty healthy, but to our surprise they're not the main couple. the author mentioned that they wanted to make the overall story pretty long which is why the first couple's story lasted to I wanna say 60 something chapters. however, the second couple (main couple) is not to everyone's taste because the story switches a toxic setting
but I mean I think u should give it a shot
I read about half of it the main couple is pretty nice and entertaining but I’m holding off on read the rest for now so I can’t say much about the second half of the story

ok so it starts with this girls father rebelling or something, she begs for his life from the emporer person there. He throws her into a pit, she gets a ghost mentor and becomes strong, she also has a majic ring that makes her look like a boy or something like that. She comes back from the pitt and becomes the emporers guard. She goes on quests, falls in love with the emporer and sleep with him in her female form without telling him who she is. One of the guard quests involved her defeating some dude who had kidnapped a merperson and cursed stuff until the bad dude was like infected with pearls coming out.
