The chapters has been so exhausting lately, it felt like when you can't escape a maze. The hopelessness for Miesa and Eirik stuggles, their miscommunication, untold feelings. It felt so suffocating all those scene where Miesa's pathetic of a damn brother is.
I think that was precisely the intention. To have the readers also, like the main characters, feel isolated and blocked off from all form of retaliation. I believe that's where the caged bird becomes symbolic as well. That being said, it is an emotionally loaded story, so definitely read at your own discretion. I'm holding out for that happy ending. If there's any traction in it, I'd be gripping the handle bars like my life depended on it. Because I'll be damned if we don't receive a happy ending with the mcs after everything they've been through, and what we've been through reading this... Absolutely diabolical and war will be waged if not
