Okay so I was watching the anime but I immediately caught on with how badly the female lead was written. She’s a professional bounty hunter/hitman and she’s like that...? I was only a couple of episodes in so I just thought that maybe she’s forcing herself with her job or she’s hiding something. I couldn’t help it so I finally read some reviews about the manga. Well, it seems like there’s really no development. Such a shame, I gave this a chance because I read this is similar to Spy x Family’s Twilight and Yor. Now I see how insulting that comparison is, especially to Yor. I’m so sad, I really wanted to like this so bad.
I just can’t stand it when they pull the “I don’t like guys, I just like him” bs.
Let’s be so for real. They dance around with these labels and it’s definitely because of internalized homophobia. Some authors also do that because they appeal to the fantasy of BL readers who fetishize these gay relationships but are actually homophobic in real life. And think about it, would you say that to a straight couple? That they’re exclusively straight for their partner? Come on now.
I find this manhwa kinda funny because everytime it goes to the typical toxic yaoi plotline the author always pulls back as if to say, “Sike! There’s none of that toxicity here. Let’s go for a more healthy relationship.” With that said, I’ll be tuning in for S2.
