At first glance I wanted to stop reading this, because the art is not really my thing. But boi, I am glad I stuck to it because the storytelling is amazing and the art also grew on me. This is definitely one of the great mangas out there.
This manga is so dark, I wonder what makes the author wants to tell this story. If you read the prequel one can already see the author has this story in their mind. I skimmed reading this, because I do not want to get too much absorbed into this after reading the comments here. But I feel this story is based on some real life stories. Unfortunately some people that are victims of pedo's in their childhood become a perpetrator themselves when they become adults. It's really scary, like a monkey see monkey do thing gone wrong. But then, not all victims will turn out like that, though all victims will be scarred for life. So we need to protect the children/young people, we need to speak up or help them if they are not able to themselves. It kinda breaks my heart to know some kids are abused like that...
I do still wonder if seeking professional help from Psychiatrist change things?
It might help some to process it and give it a place I guess (depending on the intensity of the trauma) but I also wonder if one can truly forget it...
I see your other comment and I also believe you and am sorry for what you have been through. Being a victim and not having people believe you when you tell them is the worst. Seeking professional help to just be able to talk about it and for closure might be worth a shot in cases like this imo.

Feng Nian is a real cutie pie, he is adorable. While reading this, I was scared the whole time that the toxic stuff will turn into crazy traumatic toxic shit because I read the other works of the author lol. Fortunately this never happened. The ending was quite satisfying and the two extra episodes are very cute and sweet (โฐหโกหโฐ)

Probably in real life William would have married Eleanor, so this kinda feel like a fairy tale to me. I am happy that Eleanor also found happiness in this story, because she is a real sweetheart and became an indirect collateral damage of society's expectation at that time.
Reading this makes me realise that we are so fortunate to be living in current times, it just feels like so restrictive in the past, whether one is a noble or someone poor.
