Hmph, serves you right, dickhole. Pine yourself miserable. I really hope Shinobu isn't pining as well though, I hope he's picked himself up and tried meeting other people and putting Kou behind him, in a healthy way. Yes it's only been a month or so and he was really hurt, but a broken heart is what had him sleeping with Kou in the first place after all. I don't want him to end up being the unreasonably loyal, only-ever-been-with-the-first-guy-he-slept-with type of uke (although yaoi logic says he probably will). Kou doesn't deserve it.

This might be unpopular but I think Miharu did the right thing at this stage. I feel that he thought Hei-chan's reaction to the "kiss or have sex" question meant that Hei-chan hadn't really thought about it. And to be fair, Hei-chan thinking about kissing him once, for a moment, is NOT seriously thinking about it. I love them both and I want them to get together in the end, but so far most of Hei-chan's feelings have been kind of vague, and based around taking care of Miharu and not wanting him to leave or be taken away.
Miharu's being careful because Hei-chan is very young (hello, jail-bait) and seriously might have mistaken his feelings. When you're a teenager feelings can be strong but can also be fleeting or confused. Miharu is an adult so I think he wouldn't want everything to be ruined forever because he jumps at this, and Hei-chan wasn't sure or realised later that it was a mistake.

Haha well that would be following yaoi tradition! But Miharu seems like such a great guy, he might actually be happier if Heita has some "normal" ie. own age, (not necessarily hetero) experience first... remember Miharu has been living with Heita's grandparents/grandfather for years and must be very emotionally attached to the family as a whole. That's another reason for him to be very cautious - and why he said to Hei-chan that familial feelings are a different type of love - as well as really caring deeply for Hei-chan.
Just a couple more things I think make this so great: I love that Heita is so upfront, instead of fluffing around blushing for chapters and chapters! Even though he got (gently) rebuffed. What a champ. And I ADORE that there has never been any predator-style grooming from Miharu. Hell, they took a bath together, and it was such a nice moment. Hooray for the creator! These characters really are wonderful.

Exactly! I'm happy :) Miharu's in it for the long term. He's not going to mount the kid, or say "Hey, awesome! Let's go out, high school aged grandson of my long-time landlord and housemate!" because Hei-chan says he has feelings, which may turn out not to be truly romantic and/or sexual. I don't really understand how people could think he would do either of those things!

yes, I agree with you.. I just suspect, based on this story, the angst will be more real maybe, more sad... separation.. etc... and that stuff makes my palms sweat :) . That's why I said that's the only angst I want to see, slight jealousy, but then *slowly* coming together.. but yes, I like this one a lot because it's a little different .

I find pushy idiot characters irritating, even when they're meant to be cute(?) puppy-types (don't care if they're seme, uke or switch, either). I know plenty of people like them, and they're supposed to be adorable! And I guess in this story his bestie likes him enough to be friends with him, and have sex with him, and that's what matters. But I don't know, characters like that just annoy me. Why don't you try to actually get him to like/want you, instead of just bugging him and constantly whining that you want to do him?

While I really appreciate a seme who gets fully naked for sex along with the uke, I do not get why so many mangaka seem to feel that "No, don't, stop" is normal sexy talk while getting it on. It just makes it sound rapey even when it's not. I like that this manga has quite a big focus on consent (although only regarding actual penetration) - Kaji repeatedly makes it clear that he won't put it in until Kobayakawa says he wants to, and Kobayakawa clearly gives consent before they DO go all the way. So then why is all the sex talk from him "Ah, please stop, don't, no, no"?? Is this a Japanese cultural difference? Is it supposed to imply embarrassment and thus make the uke more appealing? Is it meant to sound sexy?? I love the sex scenes in manga when it's all "Yes, that feels so good, do it more" etc., but they're not as common as I'd like (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

I get how you feel about that vibe, and I do like sex scenes where one is saying "Ahh, wait - ahh - no wait, I'm gonna... AAAAHHHNN!" especially if they act sulky about it afterwards because they didn't want to come yet! -- And *especially* especially if it's the seme saying it while the power uke rides him and won't stop for a break! ლ(´ڡ`ლ) ...But "wait" is different to "stop" for me, it's a turn off (for me) when they make it sound like they're being raped during perfectly sexy consensual sex. Thanks for telling me your perspective though! Maybe it seriously is supposed to be hot, from the mangaka's point of view - it's just not for me.

I've also wondered if there was something specific culturally Japanese about this. Especially considering their more "ideal types" gender roles, and that ukes are often the same as women. In Victorian England (which seems to have strongly influenced Japan) any woman who was a respectable lady wasn't suppose to want sex or really enjoy it, certainly not openly. And there are quite a few similarities between the two. So perhaps these protests are there to be the gender "virtuous" type ideal.

Well I guess it's nothing like cultural differences.
It basically shows the resistance of uke coz he is shy. Although he is in love with kaji but he don't wanna do it coz of some insecurities and stuff.
Also being shy and blushing uke looks cute. Well uke with open demands are good too. Most of the uke's are being portrayed shy and resistant to their sexual desires which actually makes the whole thing sexy.
Just my POV......(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

I think there's a lot about this that makes total sense. And you've actually hit on a big part of what depresses and irritates me about the whole "No, stop, no" uke sex talk. To be honest, I'm a huge fan of sekes and switch couples. But where assigned "roles" persist I like my ukes to be guys rather than thinly veiled women, for a start, and I like my ukes (and women, as a matter of fact) to have healthy, positive, robust sexual identities. A little embarrassment can of course be cute, and natural. But I really don't think I can appreciate the idea of shame and unwillingness being seen as normal and attractive (as in, no fetish or s/m element, that's just how "women" are supposed to be sexy).

Sounds like it really is a cultural thing. It's a bit disappointing (although I wouldn't be all that surprised) if yaoi manga takes its cues from hetero porn, to be honest, since porn isn't at all realistic at the best of times! And hetero porn is pretty much always aimed at turning on a straight male audience - although of course women watch and enjoy it too, and arguably internalise the way men want sex to be portrayed as their idea of "sexy". But it seems like there's even a difference there too, since women in English-language porn don't usually talk like that. This is all very interesting! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

In english hetero porn unless ofcourse if the scipt tells otherwise all i hear is "yeah yeah and more moans" while japanese hetero porn have this element of "no means more" (omg) even rape like scripts are very predominant in JAVs. I think it's the thought of shattering ones innocence and transforming them from reserved/shy to have momentary sex driven boldness. Maybe because the thought of having the person you're doing on bed with is becoming not him/herself is egotistically satisfying lmao

Also i forgot that the element of "shame" is there. You notice how some uke's actually say "no" when they're feeling REALLY good and there's this speech bubble saying "what am i doing" or along the lines of "my body is changing" or like "what was the sound i'm making" maybe they're just really shy and so they say no, no don't change me any further might be it or just no because the sensation is overwhelming something like that.
OH MY GOD, it's the legendary super-rare item on the BL bingo card: the seme's butthole!!! http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/honjitsu_wa_ohigara_mo_yoku/uu/tr_chapter-4/pg-10/
it's not rare you know ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ it shows a lot in some fucked up yaoi mangas
ass yes.. asshole not really(?)
Agreed - as the translators and others were discussing, quite a few semes don't even bother taking their pants off (it annoys me too)! Or yeah, sometimes there'll be ass, but nary an orifice to be seen! I'm intrigued though FujoshiShoujo, any links? For, you know, research purposes...
I think maybe it could be part of that thing in so much BL, where the "roles" are really rigidly defined - so semes can't even be shown to have a penetrable hole. As a major fan of sekes and switch couples I find that kinda disappointing (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
