heres a theory before you hate on daddy, as you can see he really cares for ruvel but isn't very vocal but he didnt abandon her, but instead gave the sword to protect herself in the shadow room bc on the previous chapter, the duke said he "is waiting for the right time" to take down the emperor together with max- in the prolouge when ruvel was about to stab herself we can see that max tried to stop her bc of the duke (u know what will happen). so her death is caused by her own misunderstanding. BUT THIS IS JUST MY THEORY SO FAR BY READING THIS. I HAVENT READ THE RAWS BUT EVERYONE IS HATJNG ON DUKE AND IS NOT GIVING ATTENTION ON THE STORY LMAO STOP YAPPING.

Actually I agree. I’ve also been following the novel so I agree that the daddy Duke is just a giant tsundere. However, I think the crown prince in her past life who she believed was there to torture her might actually be there to save her or help her out. We all obviously know that the crown prince and the daddy Duke are together so the prince just had to put up fronts to make everyone believe he was there to torture her when in reality he was on her side.
And it seems that the king who is greedy for power refuses to yield either to his own son or to the Duke who protected the country when he was being a wimpy ass. His inferiority complex and insecurity probably let him to destroy the one thing that the Duke treasured the most-his daughter! And if y’all want some spoilers I have some. The novel is still ongoing so I don’t have any major spoilers but the plot of the novel is a tad bit ahead
