I began rereading and in the second chapter when the string first shows up kihoon jokingly says ‘You sure you didn’t tie this to me while I was sleeping? You naughty boy, you!’ which knowing their backstory and how the string between them ‘began’/ first appeared was so sick and twisted (based and cool) of the creator to write.
Edit: in chapter 6 yeon pictures his (not really) unrequited love as a nobleman of old falling for a commoner (though kihoon here is not depicted as a general/retainer but as a woodcutter? Idk he has an axe). Soop2rang was having too much fun with this lmao.
Edit 2: in chapter 12-13, yeon sees his past self’s painting and instructions on how to connect the string by force through the boulder.
Anyway, very familiar with tropes so this is what I think is happening/ will happen, even though it is purely conjecture. I am not making excuses for woosang, I’m just listing out what I think will/is happening:
1. Like Soohan who is lying about being someone who has had sponsors, woosang is also lying by pretending he is straight and that soohan is just a random indulgence, and that he eventually wants a ‘stable family’. He’s definitely not straight and has been into soohan since he was in school. Reason: their classmate mentions in chapter 9 that woosang looks at Soohan the same way he used to in school.. likely with longing. (Soohan cuts his classmate off before he can finish his sentence). Also it’s much easier to pretend to be nonchalant about finally hooking up with your HS crush than dump the heaviness of guilt and longing you’ve felt towards them all at once, coming clean to try and have an honest chance with them. Even though woosang is sponsoring soohan, he mistakenly calls it dating.
2. The rumours didn’t begin of woosang’s own volition. Things escalated either because it was a misunderstanding or someone pinned the blame of outing soohan on him. Reason: classmate states that it was unlike woosang to spread rumours.
3. He most likely knew what soohan actually said at the reunion, but used similar sounding phrases to get in contact with soohan again. He definitely knows that they can’t get close normally bc they had bad shared history, so he used an outlandish excuse. (This one is a little unlikely).
Overall, other reasons I think this is: woosang is not the dominant/ abusive top with how he’s written: sure he’s jealous, but he consistently goes along with how soohan treats him, gives into his demands, apologises when he wrongs soohan, wants to take care of him and (most obviously) he’s not homophobic bc he’s a little too excited to be on, in or with soohan anyway possible. This means it’s probably a long time desire being realised by him. The way he’s written is obviously a ‘romantic’ archetype as opposed to a ‘asshole turned remorseful’ archetype.
The ominous threat of misfortune being headed their way doesn’t concern me because I can’t read. I am not worried (I am. stay the fuck away from these littol lovebirds misfortunes. Stay away!!!).

Maybe I’m too woke but naming your story along the lines of a system made to help locate missing kids quickly, with the girl who it is named after (amber) having never been found is crazy work. Idk if it’s cracking me up or putting me off lol.

First: new readers this story is absolutely worth reading even though jaehyuk is an absolute dick bag for the first 15 chapters his personal character development and their development as a couple is amazing. My criticism is a nitpick. Stop reading this comment and read the manhwa.
Anyway, my only complaint is that as the story goes on jaehyuk becomes more handsome and gets good character development but unfortunately garam starts looking a lot more… babified. Like he looks younger, his body is even smaller (mass wise, if you compare chapter 1-5 to the last few chapters it’s jarring). I wish we could keep the garam character design of old and have the best parts of the story development too. I know over time art styles develop and solidify but garam’s character design rn feel like a downgrade from what it initially was.
Haseong clocked Mr. Homotron2000 and developed a crush I knew it was dajeong he was crushing on. Haneul is the kinda guy who won’t be able to turn down helping haseong get with his own boyfriend until nana or dajeong themselves realize what’s happening and then knock some sense into him.
They are sooo cute my god yeon being the one to name kihoon in his past life is so romantic like putting a name to your beloved itself is an intimate tradition (most people will have nicknames/diminutive for their loved ones) but to give them their name, arguably something that shapes their entirety, while being five years of age, and putting so much effort into it…. Past 5 y/o yeon you have my heart.
Imagine you met a boy who is half monkey and saved your lost ass in the jungle and then led you to your goal and then you had fun all day and he is as bright as the blazing sun, made whole in light and joy and he mistakes you for an angel yeah I get why child yeon was taken with kihoon already.

I understand where ibeom is coming from. His work is very much real (atleast in the story’s universe), but can be skeptically viewed by others. In that sense being assistant to a shaman is not ‘respectable’ or ‘being on the up and up’ allowing career growth. But the reality of corporate work is that they strip you of your life to turn you into a mindless worker drone while dangling bonuses and promotions in your face which you will likely never achieve. Sure there is career progression, but it’s soul sucking stuff. Many people are not built for it.
I think jungoh himself wants to work for ibeom because he finds it satisfying. He gets paid well, loves what he does and becomes a part of ibeom’s work and family. Ibeom will probably learn to have a conversation that welcomes jungoh’s input from this lol he made assumptions about how corpo work is and urged jungoh to pursue it and look where it got both of them. Overworked and under loved.
But who starts that by revealing something that is clearly a secret about your crush/idol. Idt she realizes she’s not the main character of everyone’s lives. Chika is a person. Her mentality of ‘if I alone can’t have you, you should be loved by every person equally and not grow close to one person’ is such parasocial insane behaviour. Atleast she got her wake up call.

Also I have to appreciate how grounded this story is. It’s always something that I’ve considered, that Luke wants to pursue acting seriously and how being in an mlm relationship going into the entertainment industry is seen as a big ‘impediment’. Inherent homophobia derides acting opportunities. But even on a smaller scale, struggling to be out with your partner but not as a couple is a very real queer experience. I think especially in places with a homophobic general mindset queer couples are very conscious of how they’re perceived and what they can and can’t do.
I like that them being attracted and into each other isn’t enough, that love is still a struggle. But it’s something they’re willing to work through. Good writing.

Just because they slobber over the concept of s/m dynamic does not mean it is okay to depict a masochist being assaulted (and from what the raws show) raped.
