Eh, I understand where you're coming from.
BL has become idk- predictable, for me, at least. I read to much, so I know what you mean.

A lot of artists stopped caring about making a good story and instead just do what sells - making pretty characters and relying on that to be the main selling point. There are some good ones still tho

For me, alot of BL did become boring but it's also because I've read a lot of BL that the plot becomes very predictable at some point

I feel you, I thought I'm just getting old

It's so so so predictable that even if a chapter uploads u don't feel any curiosity.
Always with the jerk seme (mostly)/ uke, poor seme/uke, fucked up family, debt , rape(common as eating 3 meals a day)
Two dimensional characters, characters without a spine or personality,
There's so much more.
Recently , the only bl I have enjoyed/enjoying are sketch(cz both r green) and BWAT's guideverse manhwa, our sunny days( quite soothing)

yeah imma agree with @reine eclair. i'm also a lot pickier now compared to when i first started reading so my standards for a "good" story is just not what is available. i've been reading other genres, such as action and sometimes shoujo/josei, to switch it up. i think sometimes when you're bored reading the same things over and over again, you need to explore other options and add other flavors. i find doing that makes coming back to reading BL's more enjoyable.

Right. Recently I am enjoying reading action , powerful MC manhwa
Felt like a breath of fresh air at first but now it also feels All the same. Hard to find good ones.
I guess , it's hard to create something unique where creativity is must in every step.

yepp. you kind of have to keep it moving and keep looking so you aren't bored eventually. i've been starting and dropping several action stories too, but i just keep looking lol ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I agree with you. I’d say it’s mostly because Manhwa have gotten so popular that the markets over saturated. Most of the popular bl Manhwa had some form of toxicity and it’s a formula that does wonders for the pockets of Manhwa companies, so they encourage artists to make more like that. It’s not just bl Manhwa, Manhwa in general have gotten oversaturated and follow the same tropes. For example the reincarnated villainess trope or the I regressed to level 0 action trope. I still prefer to read bl manga over Manhwa for this reason (except for my goat Sangyang:the Wanderer).
