I've recently turned 24 and I've been reading bl or yaoi since I was 13.
Of course at 13 I didn't care much about age and stuff, but now that I'm 24 it kinda feels weird reading bls/yaoi about teenagers, is just like idk weird it feels weird and then it came the realization that most of bl/yaoi is about teenagers and young adults so for now I don't have worries about what to read since I'm 24 still but......when I'm 50? What I'm supposed to read?
And I'm not taking in account age gaps because still feels tricky, is true that there are good ones but most of the time is not a healthy representation.
honestly right now, just keep reading bls until you grow out of it. eventually u will not even bls interesting and lean towards a different genre, at least thats what i think. maybe later on you can read books that are about bl or some another genre.
You will outage age all fictional characters regardless because they don’t age. Am 23 and Frankly I don’t really see the point in getting hung up about fictional ages of characters. As a 50 year old, are u only supposed to be able to read about stories of 50 year olds?? Adult men read shounen all the time about teenagers. I’d only quit reading if u got bored of it, not out of a strange sense of guilt.
I'm 16 and I don't have anything to say on the topic but adult men watching shonen isn't an equivalent... Shonen is just action whereas yaoi is literally porn

Agreed. There isn’t an age cap on interests. Like with YA novels. At the end of the day, it’s all just fiction. It’s not like the people reading these stories are acting inappropriately irl.
Same I also reading yaoi since I was 13 now i m 22 I feel as I m growing up i don't like school life yaoi so i read mostly college life and office worker storyline but then I read school life again cuz I thought I m still not that old to read them cuz when I was actually in school myself i can't seems to enjoy school life yaois that much i always read older people , I also don't like to read where uke is 18 or underage it gives m mixed signals so i most of time overlook it all and pretend they are not real and it's all fiction
