I'm not coming for Kael but this is my opinion and on whatever you could arguably understand Kael's situation is. I just felt like he could be given more depth than be a passive character that he is. But in my overall conclusion, he's a meh character.
I know people here are just agitated on how non-responsive Kael character is, after all, we are reading this for entertainment. And Kael ain't giving that. Both Korean and novel readers would agree. You can't possibly argue about it because in fact, Kael is THAT character.
And honestly speaking, Hestia's feelings are also ambigous all throughout the story. And I don't feel like what she has for Kael is something romantic and love. That's why she's also quite a victim here.
And I felt like the sense of "Bias" is always coming into picture. After all, Kael is not totally blameless, he in fact murder a duke and for whatever reason is brain dead. He doesn't look like it, but Kael is possibly not that intelligent. (In all sorts of reason since the beginning of the story).
I'm also quite favorable towards my bias and could possibly do anything that I felt like benefial for them like what we do when we engage onto fanwars online. But in reality, we're of no help to our idols. It's actually hate vs hate.
If you realize that your idol doesn't really care if you protect their image, I feel like I would be very dissapointed as well just like Hestia.
And Kael not pursuing Hestia on a same level she gave to Diana is possibly the reason why people don't like him. Just because Hestia is favorable towards him, he still should not push anything foward as much. I think Hestia in this story is cornered (her fault tho), being too favorable towards someone could blind you and give others too much impressions as well.
Kael took advantage of that and he's happy, happy, which is too one sided. It's f*cking funny. He went like "we can just be happy together muah muah", and I felt like Hestia just went "I guess this is love and I live for him", bruh. I knew Kael don't know Hestia as much. He's pushing his feelings onto her. At the same time, Hestia is too favorable towards him.
Fans actually are selfish and act on their own initiative. Hestia now how to live for the consequences of her actions. Which is to live with her bias, arguably might not be what she envision. (I felt like bias is in fact not that deep. It's not love). Ps. I also won't like to date my idols.
