Whay did they change their names?

I understand that the translators work hard but why did they change names of the characters?
The story is not set in any European setting. The story and characters are clearly of Asian descent.

SPOILER? If you even can call it like that.
Like they changed the main character name to Anastasia Mu?! Just why?
