sweetie like topic of Try Begging

Hello again folks. You’ve asked and I am here to deliver. I have read through chapters 201-211 of the novel Try Begging. Here is my synopsis of what has happened thus far in the novel.

If you haven’t read the first spoiler, here is the link for that: https://www.mangago.zone/home/mangatopic/19301973/

Before the film even ended, Grace rushes out of the movie theater. Leon Winston used his power and money to dictate the absurd film’s storyline. Only 20% of the movie was the truth. The rest was all fiction created by Leon. (Leon never mentioned a single thing about Grace in the movie. Probably to prevent any kind of suspicion of Leon’s affair with Grace in the past.) Grace was the real hero of that day in Blackburn Village. Leon was the true loser of that day because that was the day Leon lost Grace and was condemned to suffer for 3 straight years. Leon thought about these facts as he walked into the after party lounge. Where he almost accidentally met Grace who was taking the food displayed in the lounge for Ellie. After getting off the call with Campbell, about the rebel forces who attempted to murder Leon in the movie premiere. Leon, sat down in the sofa in the lounge, alone, and cried as he held the baby bonnet left behind by Ellie as a 6 month old infant. Grace was hiding behind the thin wall and couldn’t believe her ears. Leon Winston crying?! (It had to have been an act cause the Leon Winston we all know and hate wouldn’t go to an extent of crying for his child.)

That same night, during the after party in the lounge, Grace’s boss blabbered to Leon about Anna. Who was the real savior of the day because she was the first person to call in the bomb. Then, he began to brag about how much she didn’t want to meet Leon in person and had left before the after party began. Simply from vague description of Anna, Leon knew right away that Anna was in fact Grace. Leon interrogated the PR manager and Grace’s manager to track down exactly where Grace was. Leon surprisingly spared Norman, the PR manager, even after finding out he had attempted to date Grace. Leon was over joyed to finally be able to find his beloved woman and daughter. He threw out his sleeping meds and shaved and cleaned himself up to go see his daughter, Ellie. After a thorough search, Leon found Ellie’s daycare location.

Among a number of kids at the daycare, Leon was able to identify his child at first glance. Once Leon saw Ellie at the daycare for the first time, he breaks down to tears. He felt liberated. As soon as he had seen her, Leon’s pain and misery for the last 3 years were wiped away in an instant. He asked for her name. She replied Ellie. He repeated his precious child’s name back to himself, weighing the important significance of learning the name of his child. He then, introduced himself as Ellie’s father. Ellie didn’t believe him to be her father, at first. Since Grace told Ellie her father was dead and went to heaven. Stating, her mother said never to follow strangers.
Winston didn’t give up and uses Grace’s words against her. Saying god sent him back to Ellie from heaven, so that they can be together again. The innocent child, Ellie, believed the man’s lie and was over joyed to be reunited with her father. Leon’s initial plan was to kidnap Ellie and then Grace would have no choice but to come after him to get to the child. However, this plan was immediately thwarted as soon as Ellie wanted to take Leon to Ellie and Grace’s home at the apartment complex. At first glance, Leon Winston thought the mother and daughter was living a poor life, while Grace struggled to make ends meet. However, after spending time with his daughter those disingenuous thoughts drifted away. He instead, felt at peace with the humble home that Grace had build with their precious daughter, Ellie.

Grace was fuming furiously after finding out her daughter was kidnapped at the daycare by Leon.
She rushed home and found Campbell inside the car, parked outside the apartment. Grace furiously asked where Leon went with her daughter. Campbell gestured towards the apartment. When the bell was rung three times in a row with no response, Grace opened the door to let herself in. The entire apartment was a mess with food, toys and other belongings. Grace found Ellie sleeping in Leon’s arms.
Grace pulled out her gun and pointed it to Leon. Leon instantly woke up and followed Grace to the kitchen table. Leon offered to take both Grace and Ellie to his estate so that he can provide for them. Grace declined his offer and asked him to leave. Saying they may not have money but they are doing just fine without him in their lives and that Leon was the ā€˜useless’ person. The mother and daughter didn’t need the useless guy in their lives. Leon swallowed the harsh words and stood his ground to plea for his presence to be in Ellie’s life. He says things like Ellie wanted—needed her father and Grace should allow him to be there for her.
Declaring Ellie had told Leon she loved him as her father. At this very moment, Ellie woke up from her sleep. Grace was upset at the child. The 2 year old pled for a hug and a kiss from her mother, like normal, Grace didn’t wanna give it. Grace reminded Ellie not to follow strangers. Implying Leon was a stranger. Ellie cries and acknowledges her mistake, then cries to be hugged by her mother. Grace still refused to embrace the child.
Leon, then steps-in, saying it was his mistake. He was the one in the wrong for overstepping his boundaries and requested Grace not to take out her anger toward him on the child. Grace was sort of taken aback. The Leon Winston she knew 3 years ago wouldn’t beg and plea the way he was now doing today. What could have changed for him? Seeing him be genuine and nurturing was all a surprisingly new concept for her. It was as if the lion’s teeth fell out in 3 years.

After a while of discussion, Leon begs and pleas to Grace to allow Leon to be part of the family, to use him however she wishes. He wishes nothing more than to be part of Grace and Ellie’s world. The man goes down on his knees begging Grace. Grace thought that the man deserved to suffer even more, however, Ellie was innocent and depriving the child of her father wasn’t the best choice. And so Grace gave in and decided to acknowledge Leon as Ellie’s father. As soon as Ellie heard this, she was beaming with joy and began to call Leon ā€˜dad.’

Afterwards, Grace and Ellie packed their luggage, with clothes enough for a few days and followed Leon back to his estate in the city. Although Grace still didn’t forgive the man, Grace knew separating the father from the daughter would never really amend to anything good for the child. As soon as they came into the house, Ellie was introduced to her own room. That dollhouse Ellie wanted from Santa as her Christmas gift, waited for her in her bedroom. Ellie was full of joy and excitement. Leon reassured Ellie, whatever she wanted, she could have.

After Ellie was done playing with the dollhouse, she drifted off to sleep. While she was sleeping, Grace went to a bar and began to sip alcohol. She was drinking to try and forget the father/daughter reunion, which ultimately made Grace feel lonely. Leon approached Grace at the bar. During their conversations, Leon mentioned how much he has missed Grace and the child for the last 2 years. He said missing a face he has never seen is quite ā€˜painful.’
Afterwards, Leon tried to start small talks to get closer to Grace before delivering his sincerest apology. At first Grace didn’t even wanna hear his apology. The man refused to give up, and requested for her to just listen to him.

Leon began his apology with heinous remarks; saying sh*ty ma of how much he should hate her for everything she has put him through, but he couldn’t hate her cause he loved her too much for that. Once Grace heard this, Grace was like, ā€˜is this even supposed to be an apology?’ Then, she tried to shrug him off. Leon then began to plea for Grace’s attention. As the man continues saying ā€˜Grace, I was scared of you.’ Grace at this point recalled Leon saying this to her in the torture chamber, when she almost died. (She thought she was dreaming him say that at the time, but this time, he was really telling her.) Then, Leon began to explain, he called her a prostitute because he was afraid that she would walk all over him, if he didn’t walk all over her. He treated her like a dog because he was afraid he would be the one dragged around like a dog by her, if he didn’t. (Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t this sound a lot like Leon had a superiority complex?) Grace said ā€˜so what?’
Leon continued, saying this did not justify any of his actions and everything he has done to her. Admitting he was a pathetically coward man. He finally acknowledged that everything that has happened to Grace was all his fault and that he was in the wrong and Grace was not to blame for anything. Grace looked into Leon’s eyes and saw that he was being sincere. She felt conflicted and confused, which made her want to run away that very moment.

He offered to apologize for every single wrong thing he has done to her. He said even if he took the entire night to apologize to her for all the wrong he has done, that still wouldn’t be enough. Leon Winston sounded like an empathetic and understanding man. He said he didn’t want to bring back all the bad memories for Grace, because that would be even more painful and overbearing for her. Instead, Leon, bid a good night to Grace with Ellie, before leaving the room.

Grace stopped Leon, as he was about to walk away. Grace thought to herself, everything that has happened to her wasn’t 100% all on Leon. No one was ever innocent, except Ellie. Grace attempted to kill Leon when going undercover, Grace’s mother took part in murdering Leon’s father, and Leon was the monster who mercilessly s*xually assaulted Grace.)
Grace began to taunt Leon saying she used Leon, Leon interjected, saying Grace has always been the one that’s been deceived and used by the rebel forces. Leon tried to empathize with Grace, saying she had only been used by the rebel forces and it was wrong of himself to blame her for the mistakes made by her late mother.

Grace was feeling guilty and unsettled by Leon’s defense towards her. She acknowledged it would be better for the two of them to continue fighting, like they always have. Grace said she was not done taking her revenge on Leon. The man confessed his sins, calling himself a monster who locked her up and tormented her, he doesn’t deserve to be forgiven. (According to the author, the man was officially breaking through all the contradictories he had against Grace and is now being reborn with a consciousness. Which, in other words, means, Leon wanted to change to be a better man and resented himself for how he used to be.)

Grace didn’t want to hear about Leon’s guilty conscience because she doesn’t love him enough to want to care. She wanted themselves to depart separately. Grace, then, asked Leon why he was even feeling guilty and growing a conscience after all he has done to her. Reminding him the love Grace showed Leon at the Annex before leaving him was all fake love, she created to seek her revenge on him. Leon acknowledged, he was aware and said he was enjoyed receiving Grace’s fake love and was now greedy enough to seek the real thing from Grace.

Grace continues to poke at Leon, saying he was still conscienceless and greedy. Leon, then, responded saying the greed of her love (even just the fake love Grace showed him) was the only thing that made him endure the past 3 years. Grace then asked if Leon wanted her forgiveness and love, Leon agreed.
Grace, then asked Leon, how he could possibly think about a due-over after everything he has done to her. Grace tried to agitate Leon by mocking he didn’t have a consciousness to begin with. Stating the only way she would forgive him is if he had prayed to God and reversed what he had done to her in the past. Leon then, stated Grace was his god and she would be the one he would pray to. Saying with a single glacĆ© Grace had the ability to send Leon to Heaven or Hell.
