Like, vampire apocalypse that kills everyone over the age of 13? Okay, cool, hope they explain why 13 was the magic number. They're never going to explain it because it didn't kill everyone over 13, just most people? Cool, wonder what made them different. They're never going to explain that either, but they are going to introduce a kid under 13 who caught whatever killed all those people and also say the orphanage Yuu lived in was doing human experimentation of unknown methodology to create monsters of biblical origin? Cool, I sure hope they explain either of those things. They're not going to, and they're also going to introduce the idea of Guren being possessed by his literal demon of an ex girlfriend and that he's working with the pedo-vamp Ferid in the cliffhanger ending of the anime? Why am I not surprised.
Then I come over here to read the manga, the little girl doesn't exist but the whole thing where 13 is the magic apocalypse disease number still isn't explained, the adults that survived is only partially explained with the resurrection and partially implied with the blood relation to The First, the demons in the weapons are working for the First, Mika is Yuu and a catboy, Yuu is Mika and an angel, vampires are angels, Ferid is also a cannibal and gets power boosts from consuming other vampires, Shinoa has superpowers because of her First Vampire concentration or something and they let her make demons, and apparently angels coexisted with dinosaurs and the blasphemous action of creation by The First led to the extinction of both angels and dinosaurs, and the Horsemen things are punishment for the blasphemous act of resurrection by Guren.
And none of the new information or any of the information coexisting in both the manga and anime will ever be explained, and neither will Yuu's whole thing where he blows a gold horn and gets possessed by a punishing angel, what "Seraph of the End" means in the context of this series, or what the orphanage was actually doing, why they were doing it, how it made Yuu into That, whether it happened to the other kids too, or how the main officers running the military are related to the first of the species they are in charge of waging war on.
I keep reading hoping for some explanation of anything, but at this point so many sharks have been jumped that I'm close to giving up and dropping this.
hey Verlaine, if you were waiting in your basement for a storm, now would be a FANTASTIC time to come out! stop pining over your dead boyfriend and do something!
