It's all so fcking ridiculous. I dont even know where to start ngl. Just the Pei Xingxu crashes out and basically it becomes a sort of repetition of the parents' story and sht it's so sht the plot is sht the characters are sht, it's so terribly written and the mtl translations also didnt help anything. It's so terribly written you HAD to know what's next bc otherwise you're haunted by cliffhangers. Anyways, Pei Xingxu dies, Liqing basically becomes resurrected (he dies), the Hu guy has a brother(?) who brings in some deluded mfer who thinks he's the dead prince Yu (the son that died and they blamed it on Chen Yu), Loulan literally burns, idk what the hell goes on everything is even messier than the parents story i wish they just didnt add anything to it bc it's so filled with plot holes you can drop a thousand soccer balls on it and it'll still have 1000 holes waiting to be filled with soccer balls. Qiye somehow becomes the emperor by the end of it (?) after only two years and Liqing becomes prime minister (the fck). Basically the entire thing is even more nonsensical than volume 1. Ntm that the complete lack of presence from everyone else? Like??? What happened to Liqing's parents? The emperor and empress? Somehow in the middle of it, the baby disappeared and reappeared again when the plot found it convenient. It's such a sht story I'm glad I'm finally over it tho I was left with more questions than answers. Literally not one redeeming character over there. Xingxu had potential but the author just threw him out for the plot. Tragic.
I'm reading Nan Shen and Qiang Jin Jiu to cope from this. I need actual good writing, I almost had an aneurysm from reading this then the MTL.

I really find this story interesting bc it shows how brainwashing works at such a large scale ( reflection of real world events tbh) which doesn't include magic in the process which surprisingly isnt a very popular trope in manhwas. Like read it and thought DAMN that's how (politically dangerous and violent ideology that leads to war crimes) works. Like that's prime indoctrination and conditioning if I've seen one.
Also everyone's so messed up in the empire i wont be surprised if their emperor has been turned into a machine working on an algorithm all this time (kind of similar to the centurion who died after realizing they were no longer human).
