With the concept of the star candy or konpeito looking thing, I feel like this will have that tear squeezing climax where they are this close to being happy together and then a misunderstanding or something happens that will cause his body to bubble up again. But this time, he hade none of the candy left so he will die for real. And then there's that gut wrenching wait for the next chapter wether the person that saved him in the sea is gonna present a solution so that he could finally live happy or that's it for him and his ill-fated love life.
