No. His parents relationship was already crumbling even before he left the world. When he suddenly left the world, they were looking for him but couldn't find it. They've accepted the fact that he disappear (died probably) and they moved on with their life. They didn't forget about him but it's hinted that the parents were very broken when he disappeared but life must move on. They divorced and lead their own life afterwards.

Disclaimer: I don't remember if the parents divorced before or after he disappeared. But anyhow the parents completely break off and build their own life after his MC disappeared

The webcomic is original. I remember a chapter where the author mentioned that she did not base this off a novel, or write a novel first. She's letting the comic write itself so apologised for update delays and the like. There is a novel based on this comic, but it's not very long.
