I hate to be that person, but it really feels like the author just threw their hands up and said, "Eh, good enough!" when writing the ending. Seriously—Tristan becoming a vampire just by sharing a little blood with Ethan? That’s some next-level "because plot" logic. It’s like the literary equivalent of a group project where one person gives up and just submits whatever they have at 11:59 PM. Personally, I’m not buying it, and I definitely don’t feel the need for any extra side stories to try and make sense of it.

In the novel the mc literally says "I'm going to r*pe you" so yeah it's kinda fucked ngl. MC wanted to do the same thing to ML that was done to him
