Ok, wow, this series is turning out better than I thought. I first was hesitant about the set up of the story, but the execution was much better than what I expected. With expressive characters and well-done drawings, the author pulls you in with tempting morsels of action, vengence, exposition, and excitement for our characters.
One problem I currently have would be the narrative's pacing, as the pace of the story seems to have sped up dramatically somewhere between chapter 18-19. However, if the author plays their cards right, this could be an extremely well executed beginning/introduction to our characters.
I can feel my levels of testosterone rising.
The story follows a typical hero's journey, but the world building elements are what make it stand out. It's easy to become attatched to these main characters and resonate with their motives, and I find myself becoming frustrated when they have to face each other and anxious when they have to work together. The action keeps me on my toes and this world's premise adds a little spice to these fights.
Although it may be difficult to read at first due to the awkward cuts, I find myself enjoying the overall story. A few of the main characters will probably frustrate some people because of their weaknesses, but I find it more interesting and can't wait to see how these characters turn out.
