This got me wondering, there was once an original story that ended unresolved which led to someone reading it and reincarnating into that to do it justice, but that person changed the story in a way where it was also unresolved and our Mc witnessed it and fell in to change and reach the story's end. However if it doesn't, and considering we're witnessing this changed version of the story, we're next (⊙…⊙ )
