Until, of course, the end came about and it started feeling really rushed and horrible? I don't know, I just really don't like the ending and maybe I'm just reaching a little bit, but I have standards for plot and story and this really didn't meet those standards. The romance also felt really rushed and not good near the end?? I think it really became bad once he confessed because after that it was a mess.

I honestly felt the same in the beginning. I suffered so much second hand embarrassment from the main character. But I kept on reading and in my opinion, I really really like this story. So I suggest you keep on reading as well. It stops being embarrassing after a few chapters.
