Cuts him down at the last minute to give him one more chance says that he either stays with him or dies. MC then accepts his fate because he doesn't want to die so he stays with him.
I know he also kills the Prince, I think if I remember correctly the Prince wanted to take MC as his own. Which is what lead to him regaining the throne.
I think if remember correctly it doesn't get intense until around chapter 84 and there is 98 chapters in total. 98 or 94.

Yes he tried to leave because regained his memory of what he did to the village. The ending is very ambiguous, its kind of implied that he is trapped in this toxic situation, so I assume that love is really out of the question.
