I mean actually sure about this theory but for some reason I feel like it’s her brother doing. Maybe he wants an excuse to come back home and have to assume the title of Duke and she’s a threat to that and to his support of the first prince. And also because he essentially left home and left her in a knowingly abusive house so he could save himself.
