a) her period wasnt over that long ago and now she's having another one. she has really odd periods, she shouldve seen a doctor if this was occurring. b) cold water does nothing for slowing down or stopping your period. it actually makes menstrual cramps worse.

I think with the cold water bit, she's going based off the fact that you don't bleed when you're wet as you do when dry. Plus, some people do just have irregular periods which don't affect them in any sort of way. It doesn't mention when she first got her period so for all we know, she could have only gotten it a few months prior to the story and it still may be regulating.
