Yes it is tragic what’s happening to the attendant but at this point in the story I think we’ve all gotten attached to the seme and started to forget exactly the kind of man he is. Because of that I do think that this direction is a good reminder of exactly what we’re dealing with. It would honestly be a cop out to just have the seme make a 180 just because he’s more tender with the uke
And to be completely honest, he is letting the attendant live so already has is technically softened. Before he would slaughter him in front of the uke without a second thought. So yeah, there is a character development but it’s happening in a realistic way in terms of the time setting and class system
